Okay since we discussed the issue in regards to CovCath hosting Highlands last Friday night when all the other 9th Region Boys teams were not playing, how did this schedule come about?

(9th region Girls teams are playing Prime time games on Fridays in January as per I guess you would call it an agreement to allow Girls the prime time designated game times. Plus Girls have been playing Tuesdays with Boys on Mondays)

Here's what we know:

Friday Jan 13 Cov. Holy Cross will host NCC in the only 9th region Boys game played that night in the 9th region.

Holy Cross boys also play Thursday Jan 12 at Lloyd. They also will host CovCath on Monday Jan 16.

Holy Cross girls will host Beechwood Saturday Jan 14.

Other 9th region Girls games on Friday Jan 12:

NCC at Highlands

Simon Kenton at Dixie

Dayton at Heritage

Holmes at Notre Dame

Scott at Ryle

Newport at 10th region Brossart

The arrangement affects the ONLY the NKAC league schedule. Other games outside of that schedule are limited to the schools discretion.

Also, I believe you have a typo on the last group. Friday is Jan 13th.

Isn't Holy Cross hosting NCC an NKAC game?

It's especially bad when the boy's and girl's team are scheduled to play on the same night (NCC boys @ HC and girls @ Highlands). I was at Bracken girls vs. Lloyd girls game earlier this week while Lloyd boys played at Simon and the only fans were parents.

Maybe the schools losing income?

Yep. They're losing income because the girls are playing tonight instead of the boys. At schools I'm familiar with I estimate that combined ticket and concession sales for a Friday night girl's game are about 35% of what those same sales would be for a boy's Friday night game.

Those dollar differences seem to have a strong correlation with the level of play and entertainment value, don't you think? :sssh:

And, the relavent point is that a Boy's Tuesday or Thursday night game does not bring in the same dollars as a Boy's weekend game. All-in-all, an entire month's worth of lost (as in, never to be recovered) weekend revenues does affect the bottom line.

This revenue issue would be magnified ten-fold if football games had to be played on Thursday night instead of Friday for the month of September.

Well the level of play/entertainment value is not the real issue IMO.

The real issue is that, like it or not, the KHSAA has designated "prime times" and schools are trying to accomplish equality in that area. There is a plan to do that, but if a plan isn't doing what it is designed to do (accomplish the goal) and additionally negatively effects things like income, then there is a problem.

The problem isn't the plan of switching nights, the problem is it almost has to be an all or nothing thing. I've got a feeling quite a few of the Holmes and CovCath players/fans along with other 9th region boys will be checking out the Holy Cross/NCC game instead of the Holmes/ND Girls game tonight.
