Golf Regionals Upcoming

Featured Replies

Girls and boys golf teams will be competing in their regional tournaments on September 24 and 25. Who are some of the teams that could finish 1st or 2nd and make the trip to Bowling Geen CC?

I've attached the current golf alignment since they are numbered differently than other sports.

In the boys 8th region I know Bourbon Co and Newport Catholic have nice teams.

In boys region 4, West Jessamine will be pretty much impossible to beat.

Already didn't the season just start.

Golf has a very short season. Practice started for most teams on July 16th this year and the first tournaments were held on July 30th. Actually, there were a couple of tournaments on July 26th I think. Not much time to prepare. The boys state tournament is Oct. 5-6.

Wow, but I guess too with it being mostly an individual sport, the kids can practice on there own all spring and summer.

That's what coaches hope!

Even though St. X has the toughest region, they're playing so well that they should cakewalk through in Louisville. CAL and Ballard will battle for second.

The Lexington region is wide open. Mad Central, Lex Cath, Dunbar, and LCA could all legitimately come out of that region.

West Jessamine should win their region with Danville looking like the second best team there.

St. Mary's will win out west and Corbin should win their region. In Northern KY, Cov Cath and Ryle should have a nice little battle for the win

Agree with all points.

Region 12 should be interesting as well.

Region 8 should be tight. At Houston Oaks yesterday (regional tournament site), the scores were:

Mason County 167

Bourbon County 168

Newport Catholic 171

Medalist was NewCath's Drew McDonald - 37.

PS - I've only played at Houston Oaks once, several years ago. Probably the best round of golf I ever played, considering I had never been there before. Doubled 10 and 11 and shot 76.

Mason Co. will be tough to handle, especially when their #1 man turns his game back around. Bourbon Co. seems to be in a little funk of late after coming out of the gate strong.

76 with 2 doubles is a very nice round at H.O.!
