November 3, 200718 yr Its not open vs closed enrollment. Its not public vs private. Its work ethic and committment. Period. I know that will upset a lot of people on here that want to find some other blame for their lack of success, but we need to start being honest with ourselves. Other than the dead period this past summer, the Highlands football players had 4 days, that's right 4 days, from the day school got out last spring to the first game when they weren't at that school doing some football related activity. No summer jobs. Very little hanging out on the corner with their buddies or at the mall. No staying out until midnight because they don't have football conditioning the next morning. My guess is that most of the perennial football powers do the same thing that Highlands does and its why they are good year in and year out, and don't only win when they are in some up talent cycle. You guys don't get the Point... It is about Having the money, Winning the Titles, For you that actually have a chance... I played on a rural football team A few years ago and played some upper level teams... We Didn't have committment ... We Ended our Season and Had Conditioning Start the Following Week... We weren't COMMITTED????? We worked all Fall, Winter, Spring, And just like you Except for the dead period all Summer as well.. Every Weekday 3 Hours a Day... Yeah we weren't committed... But we had no shot at beating any Louisville team... If Committment were all you needed then most every school would win a State Title.. Thats not how it goes... Thats not all you need IMO, Go ahead with the Public-Private Split... THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO LEVEL THE PLAYING FIELD Now.....

No offense, but with the new stadium, and the new indoor practice field (is it ready yet?) how in the heck can you say that JCHS is poor?? BTW I root for JCHS because they are committed to sports. Nobody and I mean nobody in NKy has as nice as a complex as you guys and that includes HHS, CovCath, Beechwood or NCC that doesn't even have a home football field.

Boone Co. would, but the powers that be wouldn't let Shawn Alexander donate the $ to Boone unless he did the same thing for Conner and Ryle... Dumb...
November 4, 200718 yr Boone Co. would, but the powers that be wouldn't let Shawn Alexander donate the $ to Boone unless he did the same thing for Conner and Ryle... Dumb... That is true but as a taxpayer and local Boone County resident I understand why they didn't allow it. Heck Boone County HS wouldn't even reinstall the lights on their baseball field (and I was told this by a Boone County Baseball parent) after a major storm knocked them down, because the girls fast pitch softball team would have cried foul because their brand new field doesn't have lights..... With so many HS in the County, (soon to be four) you would have heard the bellyaching all the way down in Johnsonville.... and I too think it was dumb but......
