This game was never really in doubt. Colonels dominate first half and don't look back. #33 from BC (I'm not familiar with names) had some nasty blocks tonight.

Crossbar you are being way to kind, to the Colonels tonight........

In a less than an inspiring game tonight the Colonels won by twelve despite sleep walking through the 3rd and 4th quarters. CovCath allowed the Rebels to stay in striking distance and in fact at one point if Boone had made a basketball, they would have reduced the CovCath lead to seven points with about four minutes left in the game. The Colonels in Theoldguys opinion played poorly on both sides of the floor in the second half and indeed looked like they were tired and not very interested in this game at all. They won the game, but if they play like this next Monday night against Holy Cross at Holy Cross they will suffer their first lose in the 35th district. They need the time off to regroup and get their act together especially on the defensive side of the floor.

I won't post what I really thought of the student section tonight, but I will say this, many, many of us adults were very, disapointed in you. Shame on you seniors, you are better than that..... What happened to "With a spirit that will not die" mentally of the student section!!!

BTW I hate this being my 100 post, I was hoping to make it something much more fun.... But I really have to call it like I saw it!! Sorry Colonel fans.

Congrats on a 100. Colonels did look uninterested, but I'm sure their exhausted and physically tired (see Tierney, Jacobs, Schult, Cahill). A week off will do them good to prepare for the Indians, who haven't been playing there best game.

While TJ got his 20 points it seemed that they relied less on him this game then in others, which is a very good sign.

Tierney got it started with 9 of the first 11 Colonel points.

CCH went on stretches where they were dominating. They would get 3 or 4 steals in a row to fast break layups. Then Coach L would go to the bench and the momentum was gone and Boone was back in it.

I felt Listerman never gave the Colonels a chance to stop the Rebels. He very rarely had the starting 5 in together. Portions of the starting 5 were always mixed with players coming off the bench. Besides the first 3 or 4 minutes in each half, the first 5 were hardly ever on the floor at the same time.

CCH didn't play great, but a win is a win.

The student section was a little down tonight. It was just a boring game to watch. Give them some slack. They showed up to support, they just got bored like I did.

The student section was lousy tonight due to it being Boone, who is not a top name this year, so that may have been why it was down, I still came out though. The Colonels did look very very relaxed in the second half, that is something I also noticed. That needs to stop immediately or some games this season will not go as they want them to.

How do I say this to you......"With a spirit that will not die".......Remember, it means just that... "That will not die"....... and guy's, you laid a huge egg in the second half tonight. Bored!!! You all have a reputation to uphold that was passed down from generations of Colonels fans before you. Bored!!! Never.......

Your statement about the game however was correct..... :D

I think ML uses CCH's depth to its potential by going 9 deep, but the starting 5 need to be in together for at least 60% or so of the game in order for them to reach their full ability.

While I won't disagree with your statement about the starting five and playing minutes, who are Mr. L starting five? TJ, Timmy, Michael, Billy and????? IMHO, I don't see how you can keep Danny out of the starting five even if Coach L does loves guards. Danny can shoot inside or outside, is willing to go after any ball on the floor, won't back down from anyone, is smart and always plays hard on both ends of the floor.

One of the biggest problems right now with the Colonels is that Billy won't shoot. Everybody in the gym know Billy won't shoot and if we known it so do the other teams. If you have a player who won't shoot the ball, then you don't have to play him tough on defense and thats gives the other team a chance to double up someone. Now don't get me wrong I love Billy and he has to play, he is so very good on the D side of the ball and will bang with anyone, but he has to shoot the ball when given the chance. Example: last night when Billy with the ball with Timmy on a two on one fast break, Billy clearly had the better chance to score, but he gave it up and while Timmy (?) made the basketball, the defensive player for Boone almost blocked the shot. Billy with his size should have taken the ball to the basketball hard and made that easy basketball. Shoot Blly Shoot (as in run Forrest run)....

Game against HC Monday is huge as noboys in the 35th wants to play that first round game against HC on their ice skating rink of a floor.... You know that after all.........these years, you would think that HC would know how to fix the problem, opps I forgot, they don't want to fix it. Lets just call it home ice advantage... :D

I sorry Old Guy, but I have to disagree. I think the 5 starter has to be a guard with some speed : BOVARD. Sometimes Landrum. Danny is a good player but he should be in with 3 guards. From what I can see Danny has isn't a great shooter or scorer. He's just about average. He should be used as a big man where they need help rebounding.

People at CCH have to remember that the Colonels don't have Brennen or Ryan Wachs or Chad Wachs or Ross Votel in the middle anymore. The big man is not the same it has been in the past. Michael and Billy can run the floor very well. The Colonels have to press and run up and down the floor most of the game. They can't get into a half court set everytime up and down the floor. Thats exactly what defenses are wanting. CCH has great gaurd play. They rarely should go with 3 forwards or 3 big men. They should almost always have 3 gaurds in the game so they can run the floor and press the heck out of teams. When you got great athletic guards like Tim, Kurt, and Todd you have to use them the best you can.

Do you think Young, Schult & Noll are more athletic than either Votel? Even the Wachs' ran the floor fairly well, for as big as they were. Chad Wachs never really had to do it though, under Tieman. And I think Ryan had some type of knee problem, which hindered him a little bit.

No, I'm not saying they couldn't run the floor well. I'm just saying that with those players on the post you could slow down the offense when you are ahead and get the ball into the big man. These big men are the type of players you can get it to down low, and they will do something with it with their backs to the baskets. Wachs' and Votels' all could play with their backs to the basket and that allowed CCH to slow it down. (but they could also speed up the pace when they needed too) This team is different than those in the past 5 years. They can't slow it down and get it inside. They need to be running all game until they are up at least 20pts. And the good thing is, they can because the guards are so athletic and so fast. Am I making any sense?

I agree, although I do not think the guards (as a whole) are all that different from the past 5 years.
