I understand the Roof boy comes from the family of baseball players? is that correct?

Jonathan Roof's father is Gene Roof, who was a star for the Louisville Redbirds in 1982-83 and got some major league time with the Cardinals and Expos. Gene was later a first-base coach with Detroit and is now a roving minor-league instructor for the Tigers.

Roof's oldest son, Shawn, started for three St. Mary teams and now plays baseball at Illinois. Eric, the middle brother, plays baseball at St. Catharine's. Jonathan is also a very good baseball player and a college prospect as an infielder or catcher.
