July 30, 201214 yr I haven't seen any handball yet and I'm not very happy about it. I started reading this like 20 minutes ago and I'm not very far yet. Usually it takes me like an hour to get through his entire article.

July 30, 201214 yr I suppose I get it, but I don't find the game particularly compelling. It moves fairly quickly (which is usually a positive) and requires a good deal of athleticism, but it lacks the skillful elements that make some of the other sports I could compare it to so interesting. Soccer requires use of the head and feet, a very difficult skill to master. Hockey requires the use of a stick which, again, is very difficult to gain complete mastery of. The sport I immediately thought it reminded me of was water polo, but without the difficult element of having to tread water for an hour (the U.S. victory in that particular event yesterday was a sight to behold). It just seems like a stripped down version of a lot other sports and doesn't require the amount of skill that other, more compelling games possess. These are just initial impressions after watching one game. I'm going to keep watching.

You could move the pitcher in closer to the plate, decrease the ball size, and decrease the bat size in baseball. It would make hitting a much more difficult skill to master --- however I don't think it would make it a better game to watch...

My point here is that I don't see anything incredibly skillful in throwing a small ball toward a fairly substantial goal.
July 30, 201214 yr Author Hitting is already an incredible skill. My point here is that I don't see anything incredibly skillful in throwing a small ball toward a fairly substantial goal....so what makes kicking a large ball to a fairly substantial goal an incredible skill? My six-year old nephew can do it.
July 30, 201214 yr Author I watching Denmark and Korea, I have it on DVR. Just got home. That's what I have too. I need OnDemand Olympics

July 30, 201214 yr ...so what makes kicking a large ball to a fairly substantial goal an incredible skill? My six-year old nephew can do it. I'm not concerned with your six-year-old nephew. He can also hit a baseball if you toss it slow enough and throw a touchdown if the pass is only a couple feet and there isn't anyone playing defense. I'm curious as to why this sport is so compelling when soccer is not. They are fundamentally the same only handball requires far less of the players to actually generate a goal. If it's the scoring, then I get that. You're not alone.
July 30, 201214 yr ...so what makes kicking a large ball to a fairly substantial goal an incredible skill? My six-year old nephew can do it. My guess is most six year old in the USA can throw a ball better, than kick a ball! BTW do you honestly see any skill in handball? It reminds me of dodge ball without trying to hit someone! Lets see if one of your handball Goalies could stop a throw from a MLB pitcher like Chapman or maybe a NFL QB like Manning! Skill? Sorry not from what I can see!
