I could care less who AD is or was or plays like he/ she is. You need to realize if you have ever coached and a senior misses a sign that cosy an out....you DO something to get the attention of him.and the rest of the team. You can teach in practice, give individual lessons, baby them, give everyone a trophy, let everyone play....

Guess I just have a higher expectation than rants and fits of rage from a coach. Maybe I'm naive but I still think you can win and not have to resort to that. I still have faith in coaches like Keith Galloway at LCA that are excellent teachers as well as role models for their players.

 

Here we go again! You can't compare a private school situation to a public school situation. Wnat to talk about a good coach, a mentor and an overall great guy, Mac Whitaker - Harrison County. 4 State Titles.

Why can't you compare a private school and public school? They play against each other on the field so why not compare? You make a great point with Mac Whitaker in that you can have a both a great mentor and a great coach and you don't have to choose between one or the other. There are coaches that have coached in private schools and then moved to public schools and vice versa and have successful at both. They seem to set high standards for their players and hold them accountable. You can do that in both private and public schools.

Private schools have students that choose to come there or that their parents can afford to send them to a private school. In public school, it is what it is! Mac Whitaker is an excellent coach...never seen him through a fit on the field! Right..at the regional tournament this year he threw the runner-up trophy in the garbage and another coach came back to get it. I guess if some people scream, yell and cuss ... they are still good mentors. Perception is reality.
