Final from Danville. Somerset trailed 4-1 before exploding for seven runs in the bottom of the 6th inning. Jacob Pelston hit a grand slam for Somerset. Jarred Price and Charlie Dishman added solo shots for the Jumpers. Heath Ehrsam went the distance for Somerset on the mound. The Briar Jumpers are now 25-11 and will play Mercer County tomorrow at 5:30 in the semi-finals.

I forgot to mention this in my first post but Somerset turned a 1-6-3-2 triple play with runners on first and third in the first innings. Pitcher Heath Ehrsam fielded a one hopper and threw to shortstop Cody Carrender who stepped on second and fired to firstbaseman Taylor Speaks. Speaks threw a strike to catcher Charlie Dishman to end what could have been a big innings for the Patriots. Huge play early in this game.

I hate to see Lincoln County lose because I think a lot of Coach McNew. However, I'm happy for AJG and his son. Somerset/Mercer County in the semifinals should be a dandy. The two have not played this season.

Thanks gchs.

I was very impressed with Lincoln County and their Coach. Their team was very scrappy and played with a lot of fire. I thought that they fed off of the energy of their Coach. Very good ballclub, especially to be as young as they are.

Same here. I thought Lincoln would take a step back this season, but if anything, they might have been even better.
