Ryle run-rules Conner in 6 innings to win District 33 championship.

 

Conner jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead after 2 innings, but it was all Ryle after that, as they absolutely crushed the ball in innings 3 through 6. Mitch Lawson gets the win for Ryle. Other than the second inning when he gave up a couple walks and hits (3 runs), he was in control the rest of the game.

Ryle hit the ball hard, to every part of the field the entire game. They pulled off several sacrifice bunt plays to perfection, and on most of them the Conner infield looked dazed and confused. Tough loss for Conner, but they have the talent to rebound and have a strong showing in the regionals. Big momentum boost for Ryle going into the tournament. Good luck to both teams next week.

Nice comeback by Ryle and very nice win as they pounded the ball after getting behind early. Lots of hard hit outs, too. One of those nights where one team really gets on a roll. Congrats to the Raiders on winning the district and best wishes to both teams at the regional.

Someone needs to tell Conner that if the bunt defense they are going to use with a runner on second base is charge their already-pulled in 3Bman, have the SS attempt to hold the 2B runner at the bag and then try to wheel him over to third to cover the base (and catch any throw from the catcher on a dead run, if the catcher even bothers with a throw), they are going to give up a ton of free steals on fake bunts. Not an effective bunt coverage at all.

What's surprising was that the pitch right before that, Ryle's runner had a chance to take 3rd then. For whatever reason Conner stuck with the same coverage on the following pitch and Ryle took what was given to them.
