Yes, he has been an assistant at Henry Clay for the past few years. Great guy and great basketball guy should be a good fit at Bourbon. Good luck!!

After 22 years as a basketball assistant, Rob Goodman is finally getting a chance to be a head coach.

Goodman, 41, has been hired to take over the boys’ program at Bourbon County.

Goodman was an assistant at Henry Clay the past six years under Daniel Brown. He was also an assistant to Brown for one season (2005-06) at Bourbon County, so he’s familiar with the surroundings of his new job.

“I’m very excited because I know it’s a great place, a great community, and they really support their athletics,” Goodman said.

A Sayre graduate, Goodman got his first coaching experience when he was a 19-year-old assistant with the Spartans.

He also coached under Kyle Macy at Morehead State and Brian Lane at Transylvania.

Goodman said his passion is basketball, but he’s also involved in the standardbred horse business. His wife Michelle’s family owns and operates Kentuckiana Farms in Georgetown, and Goodman says he “fell in love” with that sport, too. He owns some horses and hopes to someday have a Hambletonian winner.

“Living in Kentucky, I’ve got the best of both worlds, basketball and horses,” he said

He is a coach who will get the most out of his players. He has been waiting a long time to get his chance with his own program so I'm sure he will make sure he makes the best of it.
