Final from "Death Valley", Breds 8-3. Freshman pitcher Sarah Neace improves to 4-1 allowing 5 hits and is aided by an Excellent defensive effort by the Breds and a 12 hit attack lead by Fr. Casey Kohls (4-4), and Seniors Rachel Hardesty (2-4, 3R, 2RBI) and Paige Immegart (3-3, 4RBI).

The Breds score 2 in the 1st on a one out single by Kohls, an RBI double by Hardesty and a sac fly by Immegart. Highlands comes right back in the 1st to take the lead after two are out. Shelby Graybill works a walk and Brooke Hollingsworth lines a single to center, then one of the only two errors by the Breds, Kendell Turner lines one to left that that goes under the glove of leftfielder Taylor Burkart and rolls all the way to the fence to clear the bases and Turner standing on 3rd, next Carly Hebel brings her in on a double to the left-center gap, but is left stranded and just like that its 3-2 Birds after one inning. The Breds go quietly in the 2nd and the Birds get a lead off double by Paige Leighty, but 2 pop outs and a fly out to left end it. The Breds score 2 in the 3rd, but it could have been more. A lead off walk to Loren Zimmerman and two bunt base hits by Sr. Meghan Millard and Kohls and the Breds got them loaded and no out. Rachel Hardesty hits one back to the mound and Leighty comes home for the force, then there was some "chaos" on the bases, and to make a long story short, Kohls in tagged out at 2nd. However Paige Immegart comes through with a big 2 run single. Highlands goes quietly in the 3rd as do the Breds in the 4th. In the Highlands 4th after one is gone Haley Coffey lays a beautiful bunt down the 3rd base line that Loren Zimmerman tries to barehand, misses, and then throws the ball down the rightfield line. With Coffey standing on 3rd Leighty gets an infield single, but Coffey can't score. Up steps KC Broering and she hits into a perfect 6-4-3 double play to end the inning. The Breds do nothing in the 5th & 6th. In the Highlands 6th inning the Breds defense was SPECTACULAR. Brooke Hollingsworth is "robbed" of a triple on a diving catch by Taylor Burkart and back to back lineouts on the 3rd base line that are backhanded by Loren Zimmerman take the "wind out of the sails" for the Birds. The Breds send 8 batters to the plate in the 7th and score 4 times and the Birds go 1-2-3 in the bottom of the frame and that's your ballgame. Newcath JV remain unbeaten at 11-0-1.

Great recap of the game LB. wow did ur daughter make a great play in left she defiantly redeemed her self on that gret catch. Like the coach said you guys got all the breaks tonight for a change and we got none. How about bases loaded by the breds HHS 2nd baseman makes a nice catch for out throws runner out at home we drop ball but the slick batter for breds stay on first and the umpire let's her stay on first. Nice job by the breds to take advantage of the chances. Or like u said led off double and birds don't try to bunt her over to 3rd t all. Umpires were bad tonight but not 5runs bad. It was a good game to watch for 6 1/2 innings.

Is this district still doing a blind draw?

Is this district still doing a blind draw?

yes, I believe it is next week.

Congrats to the Breds they looked solid in the field.

Birds put the bat on the ball but couldnt find the holes.

A couple questionable calls out there but overall a good game.

Nice recap. Congrats on the victory.
