  1. Great preview! Only one minor correction: The four Paducah schools (Paducah Tilghman, McCracken County, St. Mary, and CCA) are now in the 3rd District instead of the 2nd. The 2nd District this season is now Graves, Mayfield, and Ballard Memorial. Weird, I know. Not sure I understand why either. Otherwise, great preview!
  2. Unfortunately, the Executive Inn has been demolished. Those were the good ol' days though! If you're here early enough and want to go to downtown Paducah, you can try: Whaler's Catch (seafood) Max's Brick Oven Cafe (Upper scale restaurant) JP's Bar and Grill (Very nice bar and grill) Tribeca (Mexican) Michael's Pizzeria And if you want to eat on Exit 4 (The exit the mall is on), it has all the chain restaurants you could want: Buffalo Wild Wings O'Charley's Rafferty's Bob Evans Outback Steakhouse Hananoki (Hibachi Japanese place) Tokyo Hibachi Tokyo Sushi TGI Fridays Olive Garden Fazoli's Red Lobster The Station (American Hamburgers place and my personal suggestion. Best burgers and fries in town, it's behind Kentucky Oaks Mall near Lifeway Bookstore) And a whole lot more. Everyone have a safe trip to Paducah and good luck against Paducah Tilghman.
  3. I left the game last night feeling very proud for the McCracken County Mustangs. I agree with an earlier poster; this is the best 0-2 team in the state. That said, Mayfield pulled out a deserving victory. I tip my hat to the Mayfield community and the Mayfield program. From getting to the stadium at 4 PM, to leaving the stadium at 11:30 PM, everyone was extremely gracious and welcoming. The tradition that you see you as you walk around War Memorial Stadium speaks for itself. It's not a coincidence that Mayfield is scary good year after year. They do it the right way. They start them out in Little League, season them up through middle school, and their fully seasoned and ready when they hit the varsity squad. I admire that, and fully believe that is the model McCracken County is going to use for their football program for years to come. Congratulations again to Mayfield on a very hard-fought victory! And thank you to the community of Mayfield for being gracious hosts last night. Good luck the rest of the way this season.
  4. Jack Moreland is the one that you're trying to think of. That's a big loss, pardon the pun, for McCracken County. They'll have their work cut out for them Friday night. I'm excited to watch the talent Mayfield has assembled this season. They look to be special once again. I will always predict McCracken County to win--even if they're facing the Dallas Cowboys. Just how I am! However, everyone realizes how tall a task beating Mayfield is. Not just this year--every year. McCracken will have to play near mistake-free football to leave Mayfield with a win. Finding protection on the line to protect Zyaire Hughes and give Jordan Troutman room to run will be huge. McCracken County pushed Tilghman around with Sayner/Moreland in the game. Without them, Tilghman was able to get in the backfield more. Look for Mayfield to do the same. Excellent work, Scribe! I appreciate the work you and all of the other western Kentucky posters provide each and every week. Look forward to Friday night.
  5. Really looking forward to this one! I voted in the poll above, and of course, I'm biased and always will be. I have all the respect in the world for the Mayfield football program. Nobody, I mean nobody, in this area has the tradition of Mayfield Cardinals football. I admire Coach Morris and his entire program. McCracken's big key will be on the offensive and defensive line. With the loss of Evan Sayner (due to ejection in PT game) and Jack Moreland (injury in PT game), McCracken will have to rely on a little depth on the line to give Zyaire Hughes some time to operate. I also look for McCracken to get Rasheed Jones more touches this game than he did versus Tilghman. He was electrifying as a punt returner Saturday night. Jordan Troutman also had an impressive debut for McCracken County. Should be a dandy. I'll be researching Mayfield a bit more in the coming days. Any knowledge or insight on this year's Mayfield bunch is more than welcomed! Good luck to all Friday night. Hopefully it can be just as exciting as Saturday night was.
  6. First time poster. Just getting used to Bluegrass Preps and have really enjoyed it thus far! Really insightful and knowledgeable article, Toothpick. Very in-depth and on cue. Should be fun watching the inaugural Mustangs season!
