If this is true then that is horrible timing to fire your coach before the game even happens.

Yes he coached, and I didn't hear that he was fired prior to the game until after it was over. I'm not 100% about the firing, that's just what I heard. Fleming County played well tonight too, and if the firing is true I wonder how it would of went if they would of beat Bath County tonight.

I don't know who made the call but I talked to a Fleming County assistant and he was the first one to tell me about the ref switch.

Yes GoRadio I went to the Bath Fleming game.

The official that "old" shooter was talking about in his post was supposed to call the Bath-Fleming game tonight but got switched with Joe Billman in the last second. That's what I was told by both Bath Co. and Fleming Co. coaches. They were both shocked not to see the ref that "old" shooter mentioned before.

I also heard that the Fleming County coach was fired prior to this game, not 100% but heard it from some Fleming fans.

I am kind of like everyone else, kind of expected a different outcome but this just proves that anything can happen come tournament time!!! Has anyone else heard anything about what Fraley might of said about not coming back next year on the radio??? If this is true, won't be good for Greenup to keep changing coaches.

I know 100% not because I was at the meeting because I wasn't, but I was there when Bath tried to reschedule games with teams and they wouldn't or just couldn't because of THEIR scheduling conflicts, that's how I know that some people lied. And well I guess everyone can now figure out who flat out lied. Like I said before, the EKC doesn't even matter. If a team's only expectations are to win the EKC, then those are some low expectations. The EKC has no effect on anything...so why do we even have an EKC?

This EKC or Gary Kidwell Invitational, whatever you want to call it is a big joke. Oh and Bath County, Elliott County, and Raceland dropped out from what I hear from some 16th region coaches. And I know 100% that Bath wanted to play Elliott but Elliott didn't want to schedule the game because it conflicted with the All A State Championship game which they didn't get to anyway. West Carter game was canceled due to WEATHER and the Fleming County game too but neither were rescheduled because of both sides not being able too, Fleming County and West Carter didn't play either and that game wasn't rescheduled. Bath County was the only team in the EKC that had weather game cancelations counted agains't them as losses. I'm not even from down in Bath County, I'm from NE Kentucky and I just think everything should be handled fairly. To say Bath didn't want to play some of the top teams in the region is crazy and I know this 100%, because I know of two people at the EKC meeting that flat out lied about the scheduling conflict with Elliott, I'm not going to mention their names but they know who they are. I'll say one sat on this so called committee they have.

I just think the whole deal is rather crazy. It seems every year there are 2 or 3 teams unhappy about the way they finish in the EKC when it actuallity....does it even matter??

I could not agree more. I was at the game and I've seen Coach Hicks get more upset in games before last night, the ref just did not keep his composure and let the game get out of control. I also think it was totally un-called for when the ref shoved an assistant for Bath! Seems to me that the ref shouldn't be allowed to call varsity games if he is going to act like that, and for another thing, to my understanding before last night Coach Hicks was the only 16th region coach without a technical this year!!!!

All of us sit on here and talk about what coach we don't like and so on and so forth, but do we honestly think these people care??? I know I wouldn't, this basketball season is going to be a tremendous year for the 16th region especially when we have a top 5 team in the state. In that game there was mistakes made by both sides that probably shouldn't have been, but who really cares??? It just amazes me that some people actually think that Bath County was running up the score or something, Russell ended the game 13-1 in the last 6 minutes to go...Bath county only won by 15.....15!!! Come on people, if we were going to talk about any team around here running the score up on someone then it would be Elliott...they have beat 16th region teams by 50+ and 40+. But by no means am I saying they mean to run the score up, they are very very talented and probably can't help it that they play in a weak region. But Coach Hicks must be a popular person because it seems to me that like him or love him...a lot of people are talking about him so he must be doing something right.
