  1. The Braves should have a year for the record books at G.C. The pieces are all there. We'll see if the Braves can live up to their potential. The following players should all be towards the top in 5A at their positions, if not its a loss. Joe Soden- QB Dillon Pelfrey- TB/DB Josh Rump- LB Justin Mertz- WR/DB K.J. Little- DE I hope the Braves commit themselves in the summer and shut everyone up that says you can't win at Grant County. This should be the year to sets the stage for years to come. (A lot of weapons growing in the Middle School) Things are really happening at G.C.H.S. I hope the new administration doesn't slow down the progress Coach Davis and his dedicated staff have started. Good luck to Coach Davis and the Braves! LONG LIVE THE STRAWBERRY!!! :dancingpa
  2. I would have to disagree!! I have coached in both states! Ohio is superior in both coaching and players. Especially players. I know, I know they have a larger population but look at the small schools at the top of each state and compare them. Oh and this notion that Kentucky is the Meca of College basketball is over!!! It just isn't true any more. I am sorry but it's time to face the facts. I think that high school football is improving while high school basketball is declining. Just my opinion take it for what it's worth. Now as far as passion I totally agree KY hoops fans are passionate about their roundball. I loved the passion, that was in every gym I stepped into while I was coaching in KY. Just remember what goes up must come down and what goes down must go up.
  3. "GRANT COUNTY 41, JEFFERSONTOWN 16 - Grant County senior running back Dillon Pelfrey scored three touchdowns and ran for 122 yards to help Grant County to its sixth victory and clinch the first winning season in school history." Pelfrey is only a Sophomore.
  4. Just because its evenly mediocre it's exciting? Come on give me a break. Also if you read back towards the beginning of this thread there is an agreement that SK, Oldham, and Shelby are up top and everyone else is on the outside looking in, so how is that "fairly even"? Also you didn't even try to convince me that i was wrong! At least come back with so ammunition. :walk: Now i will step!
  5. The 8th is a very weak region!! Pretty thin in comparison to the regions surrounding it. But hands down the team that over achieves is Gallatin. Coach Jones does a wonderful job with those young men and they play HARD! On another note it is funny that when Simon joined this region they thought they were going to walk!! HASN'T HAPPENED! So i would have to say that Simon is the most under achieving team... Oh wait there's Grant County!! 1,100 some students and can't beat any one above 2A!! As crazy as that place is about basketball you would think they could put together some wins. In my opinion Grant is TOO SOFT year in and year out! Have those kids ever seen a weightroom? Anyway this region is irrelevant because there is little to no talent.
  6. Hello!!! What about Zach Lewis? I now that the Tigers record isn't that great but Zach can't help the fact that the Tiger defense can't stop anybody! This kid is special. I have seen some great high school football players and this kid is one of them. He is extremely smart and can recognize coverages better most HS QB's. You need to watch him in person to appreciate him. Coach Stepp has done a great job training this young man and he will be extremely successful at the next level.
  7. Coach Davis has done a great job with that program at Grant. He's made people in Grant County excited about football. I think he may be the first coach at grant to do that, plus now he has a "pro" football superintendent instead of an anti football superintendent. Things are going to start happening for Coach Davis and the Braves. I don't see Scott having enough athletism to beat Grant at home on homecoming, especially if Coach Davis takes more control on Friday nights.
