  1. Being a woman, I'm always intrigued by the positions of our leadership on issues I feel important. After the recent dust-up involving Mrs. Romney, I've given much thought to these. All other considerations aside, I've examined them as a female. The issues important to me are: Affirmative Action/Equal Pay, etc.-In this country, women still seriously lag behind men in both leadership positions in the corporate world and in our legislative branches. Why is that, in our society? President Bush, I think, did an OK job. President Obama does a little better. I think President Obama could "put his money where his mouth is", relative to the pay of his female staff. But, he does put forth nominations of women, which equalizes things a little bit. Mr. Romney hasn't shown me yet he has any iota of understanding of women in the workforce. I'm looking to my BGP brethren to "show me the light". Will there be any forthcoming on this particular aspect? In this area, are his Morman beliefs an influence on what his actions may be? In fairness, I don't know that the President can actually do anything about equalizing the pay disparity in the corporate world. So, I'm looking for evidence of that Mr. Romney will seriously consider women in leadership roles. Healthcare equality-This one took me a while to decide, but in the end, I come down on the side of President Obama in this. With the exception of religious institutions, I can find no plausible reason contraceptives should not be covered. I see this as an issue that actually affects many more than just those wishing to prevent pregnancy. However, my more conservative friends have hinged their arguments on the contraceptive portions, ignoring many other conditions it may be used to treat. Those are two of the "biggies"for me. What insight can you guys give me about Mitt Romney's potential as a President in these areas, well, especially the first.
  2. Maybe all this liberal media stuff is true. Liberal media bastion Fox News had a contributor named Sally Kohn to write this piece on Paul Ryan's speech last night. Needless to say I was very intrigued by this piece. Paul Ryan's Speech in 3 Words
