  1. Only question is how early the running clock kicks in--perhaps in first half--and how the subs/JV looks in getting some extended time toward earning a varsity letter. In any event game should be over by 9:00. Nice scheduling job by HHS for this home breather following their very short practice week after an tough, physical and emotional win over Trotwood. Looking ahead it looks for the most part they have done a good scheduling job overall in primarily scheduling easier games or a bye after tougher contests. Plenty of stiff challenges to prepare them for playoffs with road games at Dixie, CovCAth, LexCath and Louisville Central (Ranked 2nd in state in Class 3A where Highlands would be playing based on actual size) and Hoptown at home but hopefully not a schedule that has them beaten up by playoff time.
  2. Dixie joining the district with Cov Cath and Highlands adds some spice and additional challenges this year and future years and eliminates the two team (CovCath/Highlands) winner of one game wins the district scenario of recent years. Perhaps Holmes may likewise join the mix and make the new district more interesting in the future under the leadership of its new coach. Also, the newly-configured district with the change in classes is nice with respect to making all the district games local in NKY (adding Dixie, Holmes and Scott while losing Grant County and South Oldham--who likely won't miss being in the same district with CovCath and Highlands) With respect to this thread I expect Dixie to win this one to gain home field advantage in the first round playoff rematch game with Cov. Cath with the winner of that second game rematch visiting Highlands in the district playoff championship.
  3. Great win by the Birds. Very much the team effort with lots of game balls to pass around. Certainly agree with many of the posts above. Kicking game was huge and probably was the difference in a close game particularly by comparison to a weak kicking game by Trotwood. Offensive line did a great job opening up holes for the running game--with the backs and quarterback doing a good job of finding the holes and running hard. Defense as a group did a great job--giving up only 6 points in the second half and the goal line stand againt the talent Trotwood put on the field. Perhaps the quality of the depth of the team was one of the most impressive things for a school the size of Highlands playing in the heat against a school considerably larger. D line was able to rotate 3 guys in and out to keep them fresh. Also, nice to see Peko begin to see some game action on the D line. Two quality quarterbacks with differing styles and strengths and making big plays--and allowed Cecil to play more defense further adding to great defensive team speed -essential when playing a team with the team speed of Trotwood that frequently went with a 5 receiver empty backfield set. Coaches did a good job having them prepared and sticking with a game plan. Again, all in all a great team effort. Congratulations Birds.
  4. I expect Ryle to win this one by two or three touchdowns.
