  1. Spin it how you wish. The question you were raising was about David Buchanan's credentials not the program.

My statements still hold up. No one know's how a coach is going to do until they hire him and then he has the chance to prove himself. No one knew if Sam Harp would do what he did because of his past record. (In fact I remember all too well the so called Danville faithful who were bashing him after his first 3 games produced an 0-3 record and how Duffy would have been 3-0.)

Everybody is faithful, When you are winning!;)

    I agree.

And Duffy would not have been 3-0. I don't think Duffy would have made it to the semis that year either which I believe Harp did!

Then I will beg the answer. Why would French leave Lincoln after those last 2 years which were outstanding?

  3. Had Chuck Smith before he came to Boyle? Had Chuck Smith even been to the post season before Boyle and if so how did it go?

Did Sam Harp win any kind of championship before he went to Danville?

    Next Question. :p

Nope, but Danville had, Harp took over a great program and made it better.

  4. Let me tell you what I do know.

    1) The Royals played at Highlands in 2003 and lost by 7 in the semifinals.

    2) In 2006 Mason beat Frankfort and Frankfort beat Danville, of which we all know Danville is no slouch.

    3) Some teams they've beaten: Tates Creek, Lafayette, Breathitt, Russell... those are some of their biggest wins.

    4) Buchanan coached the KY All-Stars in 2005 beating the TN All-Stars. That position is voted on by your peers of coaches.

So, hope that tells you a little bit of what Coach Buchanan has done and can do.:thumb:

And Kentucky beat LSU and LSU won the National Championchip!

  5. Looks like French will be at Boyle next year.

    Here's a quote from today's Advocate-Messenger:

Boyle County officially offered its head football coaching position to Lincoln County coach Larry French this morning, and he has the rest of the day to decide if he will take the job or not.

"It looks pretty favorable that we will end up at Boyle County before it is all said and done," French said after his meeting with Boyle officials this morning. "I heard the right things. They were all positive. It all went well with the interview. It would be awful hard to turn down."

Could this be due to the fact the the Lincoln pipeline isn't looking so strong?

  6. Being of the staff and running the show are very much different.

Disagree....Taking the job means you are willing to accept the challenge. Though Clay played at Danville doesnt mean he wouldnt do everything to keep Boyle as a contender. Smith had a great run of talent and championships and left at a great time. The question is to take on someone at the end of a "Great career" (I played for him) or someone who is at the beginning of a "great career."

  7. 1. I would think that Boyle could get just about anyone they wanted with the tradition and support that they have. They have shown that they are not afraid to go after the big names, so I would be careful if I were so of the big name schools with big name coaches.

    2. I heard that they may go after a young and up coming coach too. If French does not take the job maybe one his former assistants would get it. I have Heard Clay Clevengers name mentioned, and he has College and HS experience, could end up getting a great young coach there.

Can't go wrong with Clevenger. And if Boyle grabs French, Lincoln Lincoln could go after him... However, it seems he has alot of young Talent at Henderson and hopes to turn them around in a year or 2.

  8. Actually a good post except for that paragraph. Danville and New Cath have had to contend with each other since 1999. Until last year's last second loss, Danville pretty much has come out on top everytime against the Breds. They have been in close games but I certainly don't see New Cath as some new road block for Danville. New Cath may go on a tear but to date they only have 2 State Titles and haven't shown that they are a better program than the Ads. At best they are on equal footing but History (the since 1990 part that this thread mentions) shows it is very much one sided that Danville may dominate this Class in years to come.

With what Danville has returning, they will have to be dealt with!:dancingpa

  9. Trotwood Madison was a team of individuals who ran up against a "TEAM" in Fort Thomas Highlands.

Kentucky has always had some good individual players, but overall level of competition is poor.

NOTE: Just as an example, put Maryland ahead of Kentucky. DeMatha High School places more D-I players each year, than the entire state of Kentucky does. Other states ahead of Kentucky, in my opinion.........Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah, and Wisconsin.

I see MD high school football every Friday and KY hands down is heads and shoulders above MD, period.

  10. Funny, I listened to the KHSAA broadcast and never heard that at all.

In fact if we are talking about the same broadcast I can say that Steve Bertram knows all too well the kind of athletes that Central has (all those years they played Boyle in the playoffs) and he has little love beyond professional respect for Belfry (reasons not to be named).

(I'd love to hear those reasons!) (maybe quietly);)

  11. Like i said before Danville was very, very good that year. If the same adjust ments would of been made in the 1st half this game wouldn't of went to overtime. Highlands would of won in regulation. The offense was called by a totally different coach in the 2nd half.

Can't say I agree. Played both sides that night, all night! Better team won IMO!:ylsuper:

  12. Could you imagine Dale with the 1986 squad that went 12-1 and lost to Danville in Double overtime in the playoffs. Man we were good!!!! I can still remember our halftime adjustments against Danville. Wow!!!!!!!

But you still lost, correct!!!??? Should have made those adjustmenst the first half. If you can beat them, hire them! Duffy went North is 88 after an 87 championship with the ADS!!!:dancingpa
