  1. I'm not familiar with Bullitt. What are their expectations this season, and what teams are their biggest obstacles?

Win the district then region. Boyle is their toughest test of the regular season but still have to play Central Hardin prior to district play. The biggest thing for them is to get healthy and gain experience on the OL. Doesn't help that BE lost their best WR to a broken leg last night but should be getting their other starting TE back, who can also flex out.

  2. The Boyle defense looked great. The offense needs some work. Multiple drops stifled the offense. Lots of room for improvement. It'll be interesting to see how much they improve throughout the year.

Didn't help that BE has very little experience on the OL right now but sounded like both defenses played fairly well on the radio, especially so early in the year. Boyle Co. will need to clean up the procedure penalties though; seemed like they had a thousand of them.

  3. If they can find an OL, they will be very tough. They graduated 5 of their top 8 OL from last year. Plus, one of the returners is out for most, if not all, season along with the only returning starter not cleared for contact. The rest of the team look pretty good as they return a lot of experience at almost every position. It will be an enteresting first few weeks of the season as they may not score at the same clip as they did last year. However, if the OL can gel (and stay healthy, obviously), they could be a tough out in the playoffs.

  4. It isn't the offense. Last year, BE did not have a QB who threw that well. With the QB returning and some transfers who play WR, they may throw a little bit more. However, BE has a nice stable of RBs returning, plus a QB who runs the veer pretty well so they will still run the ball a lot.

  5. Bullitt East has to find 5 OL who are varsity-ready and healthy to replace 4 starters and a backup who played many snaps. The one returning starter is coming back from an injury very soon. Other than that, the rest of the team looks pretty good.

    Had to finish previous post.

  6. What is Harlan Co going to have? I agree about Bullitt East, I think they're going to be really good, What about Christian Co? Anderson Co? Franklin Co.? N. Laurel? Any of these teams going to be contenders?

  7. Bullitt East fielded two teams. Many of the starters were on one team but had some good talent on their B-team that would have gotten reps with their A-team. BC and NB each fielded one team. BE's A-team beat South Oldham in pool play while their B-team were down just 19-17 until DeSales scored a TD with about 30 seconds left in their pool.

  8. When you turn the ball over 9 times (2 Ints, 4 fumbles, 3 turnover on downs), you aren't going to win many games. Also, Bullitt East had 292 yards of offense to DeSales 105. DeSales returned a fumble (short run) and interception (about 30 yards) for touchdowns. BE just kept shooting themselves in the foot; can't turn it over that many times and expect to win.

  9. I'm guessing that the players were not taking care of their bodies outside of practice. 3 water breaks for 5-10 minutes is plenty. We tell our players that outside of practice, they need to be lots of water before and after practice, at least a gallon. The water during practice is just to replenish some of what they have lost during practice. It's more about what you do before and after. Regardless of that, it's still a shame for that kid to be in the hospital. Best of luck to him, but knowing what I know, I'm not getting my hopes up as he's not doing too well.

  10. A great game to watch. LaRue got out to a 14-0 lead in the 1st quarter as Marion wasn't really getting to the ball. But when they started doing that in the 2nd quarter, LaRue's offense stopped moving the ball. Then Marion started running the option and LaRue couldn't stop that and Marion scored 26 straight points. Late in the 4th, Marion was moving the ball on the ground, then tried a backside dump route that was thrown behind the TE and LaRue picked it off. The Hawks moved the ball down the field to the 5 yard line but bogged down and Marion was able to get the victory.

Marion and NB should be a pretty good game as they are about equal when it comes to athletes. Marion has the better defense though so I think that will be the deciding factor.

  11. A very exciting game to watch. BE finally gets off to a good start and were able to hang on against a spirited NB comeback.

A lot of injuries for BE is right. 4 starting offensive lineman were out, plus a starting RB/CB, starting ILB (one of the OL) and a few backups. And for the freshman who was taken off the field in an ambulance, he's going to be out for a while as his ankle was dislocated. It was set tonight and will have surgery on it early next week. As far as the district race goes, if LaRue beats Marion, then it will be absolutely ridiculous to figure out the seedings.

  12. The problems that Lafayette had tonight were penalties and dropped passes, although #40 had a nice catch on a 3rd down late in the game that ended up giving Lafayette good field position prior to kicking a FG that put them up 10. As fas the OL, Bunch wasn't really pressured that much tonight. Also, Cissell fumbled 4 times tonight and lost 3 of them and didn't play at all the last half of the 4th quarter. Reynolds was basically doing everything for NB.
