BC has lost to two decent teams and has beaten 4 teams with a combined record of 8-18. Their best win was the first week of the season when they Louisville Holy Cross 7-0. Not sure I would call that worthy of being ranked top 10 in 5A.

CAL controlled the line of scrimmage for the last 3 quarters. Milton Wright is a stud.
-
Nelson Co. defeated Shawnee in a scrimmage last Friday, 30-14.
-
Hunter is a great kid. Congrats to him.

Christian Foster plays soccer for the BE girls but offered to fill in for the injured kicker.
8/8 XP in a 56-31 victory over Shelby County AND recovered an onside kick that she drilled off of a SC player.
The other kicker wasn't injured, just playing in a soccer tournament in Barren Co. on Friday.
-
She is already playing a fall sport.
-
Shelby Co. sideline is turning into a M.A.S.H. unit unfortunately. Ambulance being called for the 2nd time.
-
Thank you, couldn't find her on the roster I was looking at.
She just tried out on Wednesday.
-
The regular kicker is playing a soccer match tonight at Barren County and Christian decided to give it a try. She's one of state's top goal scorers.
-
It's Christian Foster and she will be playing soccer at EKU next year.

Egli left Nelson Co. football in very poor shape. The kids haven't been coached in years, particularly on defense. There was a shell of a weight-lifting program going on, too. Egli didn't give to feeder middle school programs the needed support. It's going to take some time to get the ship righted but I know the new coaches will care about the kids and work hard to get things corrected. But there are very few seniors so a lot of young kids are playing. They just need to trust the staff and keep working hard.

It is true that some varsity starters played (sophomores). I heard that the starting Qb will be back this week. Probably why the freshman played. BE is still decimated with injuries. Probably the best two RBs on team have been out most of the year, both are only sophomores. These injuries are going to play a big part. BE doesn`t seem to have a great deal of speed to begin with, but most of the speed they do have is hurt.
BE is slow compared to the teams they have had the last couple years. Their sophomore class is definitely their best group. There just isn't much healthy, talented depth in the junior and senior classes this season. Each of the two older groups has some solid players, just not enough, especially to withstand the injuries.

This game is for the #2 seed.

Bullitt East is getting healthy. The O and D line is healthy and pretty good. They still need to get the offense on track.
Health status is a little better. The main thing is that the district schedule is easier than the non-district schedule.
-
If BE didn't turn ball over not that surprising. Central has played no defense all year and the last two weeks their whole offense has been Dukes running around, which was probably hard in the muck.
Both teams lost 3 fumbles. BC had inflated stats due to their weak early season schedule.
-
Central couldn't handle the constant blitzing.
-
Nelson County held to -3 yards rushing.

So kids who would start chose not to play. QB who was hurt but has been cleared also chose not to play. Not a good sign if you ask me.
And I went to the Eastern game and watched the Kessler kid get sacked and hit all over the place. I think the scheme, or lack thereof, in pass protection probably contributed to him not playing the last couple weeks.
Polson chose not to play because of his shoulder injury, not because of the coaches. He wants to play but can't afford to injure his shoulder like that again. The OL who chose not to play never enjoyed playing football but were forced to play growing up and finally said they weren't playing anymore.
At most schools, talent is cyclical. Two years ago, BE had a pretty good senior class, hence why they made it to the Regional final. Last year, they had a decent senior class but were missing a couple pieces to make a playoff push. This year, the senior class is fairly small; only 8 of them really contribute. The junior and sophomore classes combined are pretty solid though.
And to help you out with facts, Kessler played last week and took some hits on that shoulder (just a deep bone bruise). Shelby County will be a tough matchup but I think things will start turnaround in district play.

There are plenty of teams that run option that dont have to go through 5 QBs in 2 years. Either something in their preparation in offseason or scheme is leading to this many injuries, and that would be the responsibility of who?
Again, school of 1500, surely you can find someone and develop them. Polson kid got injured last year but last I heard was cleared and chose not to play, wonder why?
Good coaches own up and take responsibilty. So scheme causing QBs to get knocked out left and right, or choosing to start a freshmen on oline last year and blaming inexperience, I find that very hypocritical of coaches.
Polson was cleared to play but not allowed to play. His shoulder injury was pretty bad. The other varsity QB last year, Pierce Kelly, graduated. The kid expected to start this year, JV starter last year, was kicked off the team along with the freshman team QB. Also, 2 players who got some OL starts last year and would have started this year decided not to play. Then there have been injuries to the QBs (they are back now) and several other players have made it a tough season so far. There are a couple more starters who were injured last week that will probably sit out this week as they haven't practiced at all. It has just been a rough season but luckily BE isn't in a tough district, just a big one where they will have to win multiple games. I think they can do it if they get healthy.
The scheme is not getting kids hurt. Football is a contact sport and sometimes injuries occur. Plus, BE played a freshman on the OL last year because the player who was going to start tore his ACL prior to the season, plus that freshman was pretty good and would have received varsity reps regardless.
I will finish with this: anytime, you lose a bunch of starters over a two-year period then play a tough schedule, there are going to be growing pains, especially, when you have to deal with a bunch of injuries.

Judo kick!
-
It should be battle of inexperience from what it sounds like. You never know what will happen in games like this one.
-
Was that the controversial FG?
Nothing controversial about it. It was a free kick/fair catch kick, whatever you want to call it.
-
A lot of fresh faces for BE this year. It will help when 3 starters return for BE this week against Collins.

Doss 21 Fern Creek 20
in KY Football (High School)
Posted
Big 4th quarter comeback for the Dragons. They have a little athlete at quarterback who can sling it to some athletes. Fern Creek's pass defense was exposed. It's either a cover 2 shell whose only adjustment was to go man-to-man. Since Doss has athletes that can match up with Fern Creek, the Tigers had issues covering. But it took Doss 2.5 quarters to realize they couldn't run on Fern Creek's stout DL.
