  1. Hey shooter, don't you coach several of these guys? You should have inside scoop on who is recruiting them and offers extended.
  2. Here's my list. Jordan Lee - Scott County Bud Mackey - Scott County (IU commit) Terrell Combs - B.Station Shelvin Mack - B.Station Victor Moses - Henry Clay Nathan Novosel - Lex Catholic Jordan Smart - Lex Catholic Taylor Stewart - Lex Catholic I think they are all D1 prospects, at different levels. Where they are leaning or offers extended, I don't know or haven't heard.
  3. Maybe Novosel was at UK's elite camp. Three of his Derek Smith teammates are there. Possibly Taylor Stewart and Jordan Smart went to UK's elite camp as well.
  4. Does anyone know the real reason for this? There's got to be something to this that we don't know. Results were too outstanding for him to get fired unless there is a story here we haven't heard.
  5. Where are the Derek Smith teams going this weekend?
  6. Hey Shooter. Where else can we see your team play this summer or are you done? Any memorial day tourneys or july tourneys? I presume most of your players will go play high school camps in june.
  7. Victor Moses from Henry Clay is a sleeper. Also, I like Nathan Novosel from Catholic in the top 10. Jordan Lee is running track right now so I hear. He will be back to bball after that concludes.
  8. The list was put together by the newly formed Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association in Oct. 2006. Most coaches hadn't even joined the association yet in October, so the voting was limited at best. Most coaches got their ballots at the State Tournament and of course heavily voted for those at the tournament. I glad at least the KVCA is now formed. Hopefully, this year, we will actually have a coaches poll and a real all state selection process widely supported. I hope all the coaches are joining it. Mitzi Donhoff is heavily involved in setting this up and kudos to her for taking it on.
  9. 6th Region - Mercy 7th Region - Assumption 8th Region - South Oldham 11th Region - Henry Clay
  10. Only team with a chance is Mercy in the 6th region. Mercy is stocked with MAVA girls that are well trained and coached. Everyone else will look like a middle school team compared to them. But, Louisville and Lexington do have a few other teams that should be competitive. Manual in Louisville is always good and they have 4 very good KIVA trained players. In Lexington, Henry Clay should be good with two outstanding middles, one a KIVA trained player that plays with the Assumption girls in Louisville. Dunbar has a wonderful hitter - Katie Rose. Dunbar will be good. Lafayette has great defense, although they lost their stud hitter and setter combo - Welch and Wheatley. NKY has NDA, ST. Henry, that are always competitive with the Louisville privates. In the end, it will be Assumption. They have the best defense in the country and can pass the ball to the setter with total precision. Then, it becomes a foregone conclusion that their hitters will put the ball down. One of their hitters, Kaitlyn James, has committed to Nebraska.
  11. Of course, this team was heavily weighted toward players who were on teams in the state tournament. There are other really good vball players out there who didn't make the state tournament. Since this was put together quickly at the end of the season, maybe next year will be a bit more balanced. I'd like to see a more thorough list of the best vball players in KY. this fall come out. But congrats anyway to those who made it!
  12. I agree Novosel is too short to play post at D1, but has great ability to get his outside game where it needs to be. Wonder if his AAU team is playing him more outside so he can demonstrate he can play outside. Salsman will need to think about that in the winter as well. Who are the frontrunning colleges interested in him right now?
  13. Nathan Novosel at Catholic and Taylor Stewart at Catholic for sure are D1 players. Possibly Jordan Smart as well.
  14. Hey thanks. Went everywhere on the website and couldn't find the schedule. Can anyone provide it?
  15. AAU allows a kid to choose its coach and teammates in a private environment. With school, KHSAA, and the school coach are in charge and that can be good or bad. I think AAU provides alot more collegiate exposure than school can ever provide. In certain cases the AAU will provide alot better competition with the big time travel teams.
  16. What is the rest of their schedule for the summer? Can anyone post it?
  17. Anyone know if Derek Smith All Stars 17U or 16U or Team Kentucky playing this weekend?
