Dixie may be a busy place Tuesday night. Someone in the boys soccer thread posted that Covington Catholic will use Dixie's field to host the first round playoff game. Not sure if that is true or not???

  2. While not sought after like the police, FF's and EMS personnel are often on the scene of violent crimes before police are.

I personally have been surrounded by angry mobs at the scene of shootings, stabbings, etc. several times. It's a scary situation.

If someone assaults a LEO, FF, EMT, Paramedic, etc. in KY they are charged with 3rd degree assault. I'm fine with it being made a hate crime.

I am a retired firefighter and you are 100% correct about firefighters and EMS being exposed to violent crime scenes. Even if police are on the scene it can still be a very dangerous situation.

  3. Huge CovCath crowd, great win, fun night, under the lights on a warm and muggy Friday night in Park Hills, what more could one ask for............Well....... that will come next year with CovCath 50th year of Varsity Football and a new Stadium.

Get there early for next Friday night game vs. Beechwood.....it will be packed on both side of Wooten Field.

Hope your post is a sign of things to come from you!

  4. #10 for Covcath could play varsity. That kid has some talent.

That Cooper team that showed up was not the same team that played Highlands last week. As with Freshmen though it's sometimes difficult to predict what you're going to get.

No doubt that #10 is very talented. Everybody sees the skill players when they stand out.

#77 Lucas Jones played offensive tackle and noseguard. Very high IQ and motor. He will be fun to watch for the next 4 years. There are not many freshman that play the way he does.

You bring up a great point....indirectly. Google is your friend.

Small engine repair can be tricky for someone with little or no experience. A little time at the computer can give you ideas about how to diagnose and repair small engines. Many times the problem is a common problem that a lot of other people have experienced as well.

  6. Crescent Springs Hardware. 859-341-0800. Probably not the cheapest but you cannot beat their work. If they can't fix it...it can't be fixed.

If you do decide to work on it yourself they will sell you the parts you need and help you out with some advice if you need it. They are a family owned business and VERY friendly.

  7. Filling out paperwork to get mine. We got a new vehicle at church that requires one (thank God we don't have to drive those nasty beat up 15 passenger vans all the time now).

Seems to be quite a bit to doing this. Not sure what I thought the process would be but seems more to it than what I thought there might be. Going to get my physical tomorrow, at least I got that scheduled quickly. Ho long it will take to review all my paperwork and schedule a written and driving test I don't know.

I have had a Class A CDL for 25 years. I have been trying to add a passenger and school bus endorsements for the last 8 months. Granted I have not been in a huge hurry to get this done but it has been a fiasco at every step. The first time I went to take the written test the testing facility had just changed the hours you could test for CDL's. The next time I went they told me I had to file a form that states that I am changing my CDL. On the third trip I took both endorsement tests and passed. I drug my feet on going to take the driving test and my 6 month permit expired. I called right before it expired and was told I simply needed to come in to renew my permit for 11 bucks....no big deal. WRONG. When I went to renew the permit I was not allowed because my DOT card expires within the next 6 months... which is before the new permit would expire. So now I have to go get a physical in order to renew the permit. And if I ever get my P and S endorsements I will have to get a physical every year instead of every 2.

I have also talked to several bus drivers that had to take the driving test several times because the examiners are very picky (as they should be).

Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions.

  8. Heard at a graduation party over the weekend that CCH is bringing in portable lights for every home game this season, all except senior day. And they are even trying for that Senior Day game to be moved to Friday night. Looks like the good ole folks on Old State are losing the battle. Congrats to the CCH administration for getting one step closer to traditional high school football.

Pay attention! The fact that Covington Catholic does not have lights has absolutely nothing to do with the good ole folks on Old State Road or Saint James Avenue or the City of Park Hills. The first and only time Covington Catholic asked for permission to get lights, they got it. It was that easy. So do not believe the rumors that the "neighbors" prevented CCH from getting lights.
