  1. Where are you Pap? Can you imagine the Cats going for the 2-pt. conversion with 7 minutes to go? ;) We've been hearing that it's point chasing to go for 2 unless it's down to 3 minutes, or less! :thumb: Of course, they didn't convert, but a FG will still put them ahead. :sssh: And a TD is even better! :D

  2. The southeastern Kentucky schools are making our record look bad against Virginia!

I think Virginia strategically picks which Kentucky teams they play, and usually picks the smaller KY schools to play their larger schools. I'm not sure which teams have played VA teams, but they've historically been Class A border schools who have been enticed to cross the border to play their larger schools. :thumb:

  3. JC played very good and very fast Wheelersburg team last week. I think they will handle the speed just fine. Can Woodford Co shut down the JC offense is the big question.

    Johnson Central 35

    Woodford Co 14

You took the words right out of my mouth, FBALL! :D The way the Eagles have been playing this year, I don't see the final margin being any less than 21 pts. And the score you put up was what I was thinking before I read your post!

  4. I was more concerned with the Fan's Poll. Which, while unquestionably the least accurate of the bunch, is the one that reflects the public's thoughts on the teams. Obviously UK wasn't on their minds at all the first two weeks but it seems as though news of UK's win must have managed to reach people outside of The Commonwealth somehow. After all UK manage to almost reach the top 15. Their ranking is way to high and may very well disappear after Saturday's trip to Arkansas but it is obvious that the UL win received enough attention from the rest of the USA to have a huge impact on UK's overall profile.

  5. Apparantly at least a couple of dozen people must have noticed our in state battle. UK went from receiving no votes in the AP Poll to 21st, 9 votes in the USA Today Poll to 23rd, and from receiving NO votes in the ESPN Fan Poll to 17th. You know you would think that most of those fans must have heard of the upset to enter the poll that high. I guess if it would have been played on Labor Day Weekend UK would have entered into the Top 10. Their presence in the Fan Poll (although they are ranked too high) should speak volumes about the coverage that the game's outcome received nationally.

And gametime said he was as good as anyone in negotiating all the sites, but failed to mention any rankings...... Too bad he can't enjoy all of college football! :sssh:

  6. By kicking for the two XP in the 1st two 2nd half touchdowns the Cats had a chance to kick for the win instead of kicking for a tie late in the game if they had gone for two and missed.

Let me break it down. The Cats scored the 1st TD of the 2nd half. If they had gone for two and missed their lead would have been 25-21 instead of 26-21. The Cards scored again, and the score would have been 28-25. The Cats score and the score is 32-28. The Cards scored and they would have kicked instead of going for two. The score would have been 35-32. The Cats would have had to kick a FG just to send it into OT, instead of kicking for the win. What advantage would have going for two early in the 2nd half have given the Cats?

So, let's say that it had gone by your scenario, and getting late in the game, with the Cards having just scored and leading 35-34, given that UK had converted that phantom 2-pt. conversion, then the Cats chew up some clock and score another TD and, since there's under 3 minutes left in the game, UK attempts and, again, converts another 2-pt conversion, making the score then 42-35. Then, with some good passing and clock management, and a little better luck, the Cards do score that late TD! Do they then kick the extra pt. to tie the game, since they're the visiting team, satisfied with sending it into OT. Or, do they go for the win by attempting a 2-pt. conversion since they're on the road?

Of course, this scenario would have existed only had the Cats gone for, and converted, that phantom 2-pt conversion. Otherwise, the Cards win the game with the 6 pts. from the TD, not even needing to kick that final PAT since there was no time left on the clock. :D Also, if the Cards do put up that TD at the end of the game, they only needed to kick the PAT, and win the game. So, were those 2 pts. not important? Pap and I both still think they were! :thumb:

  7. OBVIOUSLY this is your opinion. And well... MANY MANY MANY disagree.

And, of course, they're entitled to disagree! That's the best part of this website! :thumb: I was wrong, once. But not on this topic. And I'll leave it at that.

  8. The only thing I can tell you is start a poll, make it public then check the results. I'm sure you'll find it lopsided...;)

Now you're saying to make it public! :irked: A poll won't reflect coaches opinions, only armchair quarterbacks. Enough already with this one.

  9. I'm not sure what that means. I'm pretty sure 99% of anybody in football would tell you to only chase points when it's necessary so please stop talking down to people on this subject.

And where did this "chasing points" come from anyway? The decision regarding whether to go for the kick or run on conversions should be in direct reflection of the current score, even if it's a 3 TD margin. How do you know the other team won't make up those 3 TD's and, depending on whether they need only to kick the extra point to win, or the 2-pt conversion to win, might be the difference in the ballgame. How can this be considered "chasing points"?
