  1. True blue SV fan here guys and their is a bunch of us walking around Lexington right now on cloud nine. I just saw people shedding tears they are so happy for this team. There are matchup problems for SV and i worry about their legs tonight as Ballard is much deeper. SV must start well and keep it close and get the crowd behind them. Like his game or not Justice has played his tail off through this tourney. KSR is comparing it to the old Ballard versus Clay county games. This team is not scared and will not back down. Ballard is very impressive and I just hope SV can keep it close enough to have a chance at the end.

  2. The All A Classic uses its own numbers and has nothing to do with football classifcation. This has been beat to death here in East Ky because Shelby Valley is 2A in football. I cant remember exactly what the number is but if you have under their number of students in your sophomore through senior classes then you qualify. In the 15th region you have Johnson Central and Belfry that are larger schools and the rest probably have from 200 to 600 students. Common sense tells you that your better off finding 12 basketball players out of 1500 students rather than 500. Im not saying that the smaller schools cant win or that a bigger school cant have a bad team but the odds are definitely in the bigger schools favor. Using the 15th region as an example in the last 30 years here are the teams that were a legit threat to win a state title. Todd May's Virgie teams of the early 80's, John Pelphreys Paintsville teams of the late 80,s, J.R. Vanhoose and Painstville's Championship team, and now this Shelby Valley team of the last couple years. So it ends up being every 10 to 15 years.

  3. As I have said for the umpteenth time, this means that Mr. Basketball is nothing more than the state tourney MVP and I just don't think that is correct(e.g. Jon Hood)

Wow! The 3 guys I mentioned have made a strong case for the award. Whether you like it or not Sewell does not have the award locked up. If you read my post again I have him #1 and my guy Justice as a long shot at #3. Jon Hood was a great scorer who had signed with Ky how many times does this have to be said umpteen plus 1.

  4. 1. If Trinity makes it to Rupp and Sewell plays well he is the winner.

    2. If Holmes makes it to a another Championship game even though Johnson's individual numbers are not as good he wins.

    3. If the two above slip and SV makes a cinderella run at the Sweet Sixteen then Justice gains momentum and wins.

Coming from a SV homer Im just glad our guy is still in the running and all players considered are deserving.

  5. Sewell has acomplished great things this season and IMO opinion Justice has the best high school career of any of the Ky seniors. IMO these are the top two candidates. Its no secret Im hoping Justice wins and I feel his numbers and career speaks for itself. IMO opinion if Trinity gets upset in the regional and SV and Justice play well for 2 or 3 games at the state tourney Justice could make a strong late push to win the award.

  6. Just told that SV has added a game against Jeffersontown on Saturday night. SV will play at Perry Central on Friday night and then drive out Saturday morning. Coach Booher wants to push his team on this final weekend to get ready for tourney play. I have been very critical of his schedule but kudos to him for adding a tough road game.

    Thoughts/ Predictions?

  7. On the game: It was never close. SV jumped out early and then cruised in for the victory Justice never really looked to score in the 2nd half and the team was really going through the motions. N laurel scored some buckets in the closing minutes to cut a 20 point game to 13.

SV's schedule: Its way to weak and IMO I dont see how anyone could argue otherwise. After Justice and Hatfields sophomore season everyone knew that SV had two really strong years ahead of them that they could actually compete on a state level and IMO Booher dropped the ball. He could have scheduled some home and homes that would have finished this season. He needed to have this team in L-ville, Lexington and N. Ky regions playing basketball games period.

Some of you guys dont think they are a top team and that is fine because we are all entitled to our opinion. Please do not downgrade what these boys have accomplished over their careers. They have stocked the trophy case and did it with talent, heart and hardwork.
