Waffle House Waitress Who Helped An Elderly Man Cut Up His Food Gets A $16,000 College Scholarship

A waitress at a Waffle House in La Marque, TX, was surprised with a scholarship from Texas Southern University after her act of kindness was captured on camera. Evoni Williams, 18, received praise from all over when she was seen cutting up food for an elderly customer who had recently undergone surgery.

The man told Williams that his hands weren't working too good. He was also on oxygen and struggling to breathe. Without hesitation, she took his plate and began cutting up his ham.

  2. My scripture reading for today:

Mark 10:1-16 New International Version (NIV)

1 Jesus then left that place and went into the region of Judea and across the Jordan. Again crowds of people came to him, and as was his custom, he taught them.

2 Some Pharisees came and tested him by asking, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?”

3 “What did Moses command you?” he replied.

4 They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away.”

5 “It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law,” Jesus replied. 6 “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’[a] 7 ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, 8 and the two will become one flesh.’[c] So they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

10 When they were in the house again, the disciples asked Jesus about this. 11 He answered, “Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. 12 And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery.”

13 People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.

  3. High School Coach Can Barely Keep It Together After His Star Player Thanks Him

A star high school basketball player brought his coach to tears during a post-game interview.

Sylacauga beat Eufaula in the Alabama state championship game winning the Class 5A boys' state basketball title. Terrell Jones, one of the star players for Eufaula, had a few things to say after the game about his coach, Michael Smith.

Sometimes you don't know your impact on another until it hits you.

  4. Hats off to Boyd County as they end the post Roger Zornes drought. Even without one of their star players, they were able to cut down the nets and claim the best of five series this season over their arch-rival.

The 1st half was ugly. The 2nd half was better.

    A stat to chew on...

    Free throw attempts

    Ashland - 13

    Boyd County - 35

History was made tonight for Boyd County basketball-first time both the Boys & Girls teams are going to state! Thanks DevilMayCare for coverage & that last stat to chew on only one thing to say-wow! Agree with all the points you made. Keep on going BC!

  5. Boyd County in a close one during regulation play. Both good teams and good coaches but I think it will come down to who wants it more. BC will be down two good players but just liked they stepped up last night without them they'll step up tonight. It will be a time of high emotions on both sides but BC gets the edge in my book.

  6. The best fish sandwich I ever had was in London while I attended the 2012 Summer Olympics. A little restaurant we popped into for some fish & chips-delicious!

I like Wendy's Cod Fish sandwich & Arby's Nashville Hot Fish on flatbread.
