  1. If there is any coach out there who I would want to pull off a repeat, it's Coach K. Never said we would, just saying expectations will be high for a more talented team of Dukies taking the floor next year. With or without Singler. You'll be hard pressed to find a NCAA ranking service that will have Duke ranked lower than 5, IMO.

Other than the Coach K part of it, I agree. Expectations in Durham are gunna be massive no matter what next year. They will have the best chance to repeat since the Gators in 07. I don't think Singler will go because he seems like he loves Duke an awful lot. I don't think Zoubek and Thomas will be too hard to replace as I think the Plumlees are already as good as they were. Usually a player like Sheyer would be hard to replace, but Irving is a stud. Probably my favorite player in this years class. He can't replace the experience or the leadership, but won't have too with the returning player Duke has. I hate seeing him in the Duke uni, but Irving is a beast. I can definately see Duke repeating.

  2. I am gunna miss Big Cuz more than any player in my lifetime. Playing center my whole HS career makes me appreciate them more than most. The way Cousins played was just unbelievable. Throw in his personality and it easily made him my favorite cat in my lifetime. Granted I am not that old, but since I started watching UK and actually understood the game completely, he has been my fav. Best of luck Big Guy! Whoever you play for will be my new co-favorite team!

  3. Not surprised by the decision, but gang don't fault the kid fault the system.

Mick needed a kid like Stephenson to really bolster their offense and kind of get their name out there. He played well in the BE Tourney if I recall correctly and found his mojo a bit.

I wish the kid the best.

:thumb: When you have a family of your own the last thing on your mind is costing your school a scholly. I hope he does well and can provide for his child. I agree with the poster who said if he can develop a jump shot, then he could have a nice career. I actually really enjoyed him and I do think people were wrong about his attitude. I do think he needs another year, but you have to do whats best for yourself in life. Nobody lives there life trying to please everyone else, or you will fail. I have the same feelings about Born Ready as I do Orton.

  4. Ouch. Hopefully Cincy doesnt give him the Orton treatment. Im interested to see GTs reaction on this. I wish him the best of luck. He is a really good ball player, but he needs another year. This years draft is weak, Weak, WEAK! It is a pretty selfish decision to withdraw from school, especially, when no other school really gave you a chance, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Best of luck to Lance.

  5. Ahh. Come on! Besides Beer and Captains and Coke, there isnt anything better than Tequila. Its the only liquor I can stomach straight without a chaser. I even like the cheaper stuff. Noth the Montezuma, thats too cheap haha. Jose Especial or 1800 for me. :thumb:

  6. If I dont go to the game, I watch the game at my best friends house. My two best friends and I watch every game there. If we are down at halftime, we go from the 50 inch hdtv, to the 19 inch standard tv in the basement. Also, I will NEVER watch another game in an orange building. I watched the UK-UT loss at Hooters in Birmingham, AL, and at halftime we rushed to Oxmoor Valley Golf Course to watch it in the clubhouse because being in an orange building just wasnt right. I watch the USC game at my own house. Never again!

  7. If people are gunna make the argument that UNC and UCONN were supposed to be good, and usually are, then you have to say that KUs game against UCLA is the same kind of game. Neither Kansas or Kentucky are or have been overrated all season. I am thrilled KU is gone, but in a way I really wanted to play them in the NC. Oh well, they were definately worthy of their number 1 seed. No doubt about it. The 3 wins over K State hds to have been extremely difficult.

  8. I agree with you with the exception of West Virginia. I'm confident in UK's talent, so I wouldn't say I'm scared of any matchup. But, I do think West Virginia is a difficult opponent for anybody. They're a rugged team that could test the Cats with their physicality and rebounding.

Texas has lost 9 of 16. If we lose to them, we lose to them. But, the fact that they are deemed to have a lot of talent and were rated #1 a long time ago doesn't matter much. Would anyone be scared of North Carolina right now? They have a lot of talent and were once rated high. You are what you are, and Texas hasn't been that good lately. Doesn't mean they couldn't knock us off though.

I'm in complete agreement on Cornell. Should they play, I believe the difference in athleticism will simply be too great. But, that too could happen. It wouldn't be the first time a fundamentally sound, smart team pushed a team with superior talent to the edge...or over the edge.

    I'm looking forward to it.

:thumb: Like I said I should be afraid of WVU, and probably would if they play us, but Huggie bear just hasnt done well in the tourney IMO. I think they have a easy road to the Elite 8, but I could see them getting knocked off by a lesser team. Just a hunch I have.

  9. Boeheim has proven more than most major college coaches can even dream of proving. It may be a middle school defense but very few teams at any level can master the zone. Syracuse has an unbelievable zone, and Boeheim is an unbelievable coach. I think Stallings is a good D1 coach, but he isnt an elite one. Boeheim is.

As for our Road to the FF, I really dont think its that tough. I think we are very well prepared and can easily make a run.

  10. Cornell doesnt have the overall team speed or athleticism to compete with the Cats IMO. Nor do they have the size. I know they have a 7 footer but thats not enough to beat UK. Unlike most, I really dont think our bracket is that bad. Texas has talent, but they are so inconsistant that they may not get out of round one. WVU just doesnt scare me. They probably should, but Huggins hasnt had very much success in the tourney in my opinion. Guess we will just have to see how it goes. I see a NC appearance and one heckuva game with KU.

  11. I think Stansbury made the right call. I feel bad for the guy. He really is an excellent coach. I think that the odds that UK made that play were in the single digits percent wise. Just unbelievable hustle and will to win. Thats what I love about this team. They NEVER give up. I love it. I am extremely angry though that my DVR box decided it wanted to mess up and not tape the best basketball game I've watched in years! I have all the games this year taped except this one. :madman:

  12. The end of the horseshoe that is open is a nightmare for jump shooters. I played there for my high school career and I know that even our shooters struggled on that end. I think South wins this one by 10, but I am really excited to see this game because as much as I hated playing Gallatin, they are so fundamentally sound year in and year out, that you can never count them out against any team. If GC can go into halftime with the lead, I see them winning. They run that wheel to perfection, and I never played a team that was harder to come back from behind on as a Jon Jones coached Gallatin team. I just have a feeling that South will be hitting tonight and will pull away late. I will be pulling for GC and OC tonight though! Go 31st!

  13. I'll take:

    South Oldham vs. Gallatin County

    Shelby County vs. Simon Kenton

    South Oldham vs. Shelby County

Shelby County to Rupp in overtime over a pesky South team.

Can't wait for this tournament to start. The draw makes for a great tournament IMO.
