  1. The Girls' 10th Region Tourny was offering the inserts this season at Montgomery Co. I actually like this better. By using the newspaper inserts it keeps cost down for people who otherwise wouldn't bother buying one that was 3 or 4 dollars. The girls had individual articles and pictures of each of the teams. I was impressed by their inserts, I haven't had an opportunity to see a program from the Boys 10th region tourny yet.

I got one from the girls tourney and yes it was very nice...

  2. But can you nominate an unlimited number of players, and if so, then this system is a joke?? It should be an honor to make this squad, not a "my coach wants to get me some recognition" award!! With a couple of exceptions, most of the HM's couldn't even start on the top teams, and several wouldn't even be in their rotations??

When the top three teams in the region are represented by a total of seven players and one of the worst teams has four, something is drastically wrong with the system. Further I can't believe that anyone nominated by their or another coach gets honorable mention, because that would mean players like Setty & many others received no mention from anyone?? I won't say that's impossible--But That's Impossible!!

I can promise you Mason and Clark have more than 2 players that make them teams successful. Sounds like the coaches on these 2 teams do not take it seriously. Why not nominate your whole team? And then see what happens.

  3. Maggie Prewitt- Montgomery County (placed here probably means she was the 6th vote-getter)

Erin Carmack- Deming (I believe she is one of only 3 players to average a double-double for the season)

Natalie Kelsch- Pendleton County (averaged right at 17 ppg and 7 rpg)

Hillary Butsch- Bishop Brossart (13 ppg which put her right in the top 10 in the region in scoring)

Emily Hinkson- Paris (10 ppg and 8 rpg)

    Third Team

Cheryl Rutherford- Saint Patrick (at 10 ppg and 10 rpg, the 3rd person to average a double-double for the season. Molly Norton on the 1st team is the first one with 13 ppg and 10 rpg)

Jewel Rogers- Clark County (10 ppg and I believe somewhere around 37% from the 3 pt line)

Nakita Jones- Paris (3 steals and 3 assists per game that puts her in the top 5 of each category)

Kaitlin Steffen- Bishop Brossart (10 ppg and 46% from the field puts her around the top 5 in FG%)

Austina McCaffery- Clark County (8 rpg puts her around 10th)

Torrey was not in the top 5 in any statistical category for the region. She was around 7th in rebounding. She did not average double digits or shoot a high percentage.

And with 3 other Mason County players on the team, I believe that hurt her.

She is a very good player that served a great role on the team. But other teams have good role players that did not make the team either.

Yet, I would take her on my team in a heartbeat.

I was surprised the center for Clark Co. was not even mentioned. Whitney Montgomery seemed like a good player. Seemed like she opened it up for the rest of the team. Also averaged 9 rebounds and around 7 or 8 points.

  4. Maggie Prewitt is the best in the 10th region, If you dont think so watch next sat night at 8pm.. As far as the teams getting picked, Looked like the same recruiters that Ky has, The best players are on the 2nd and 3rd teams. And the young girl from mason chould made it with ease also

Don't get me wrong Maggie is a very good player but if it was not for her teammates it might be a different scenario. Montgomery Co. is a very good passing team. On any given night their top scorer is a different person. They help each other so much. Very unselfish team. As you know I am a Cardinal fan but if we don't make it then I pull for Montgomery Co.:thumb:

  5. Are the Rogers' girls the same ones that played at Fleming County? Aren't they really young? What is the Rogers kid that plays on the boys varsity for Fleming right now in relation to the Rogers' in Clark County?

Yes they are Jewel (a freshman) and Precia (a 8th grader). Their brother plays for the boys team and he is Robelle (a senior)

  6. So you are saying there was good defense and a lot of turnovers. That does not add up when both teams score that much. If Scott County got most of there points off turnovers how did Fern Creek score. For both teams to score that much it had to be run up and down the court and no one stopping no one.

Sounds like both teams presses caused alot of turnovers....;)

  7. Got some information on this from a person "in the know."

The 8 participating schools are guaranteed 4500 dollars. The remaining profits are divided up among the remainder of schools and based on the past few years at Mason, it has totaled around 1200 dollars. ( I was incorrect on this earlier and the boys are different from the girls in the revenue sharing of regionals.)

That means the profits total out at an approximate $46,800.

Ladiesbballcoach you always have all the right answers. Do you know what the dollar figures are on the girls side? Just curious...;)
