  1. The drum players are too much like the Blue Man Group to me. They are entertaining, but my top 3 are Kevin Skinner, the 3 kids, and The Texas Tenors. The kids could be major gospel stars right now, the Tenors could fill the gap in country that will be left when Brooks and Dunn call it quits, and if you aren't pulling for Skinner, then shame on you.

  2. I would like to know, later, from anyone who actually went to the game, exactly what the atmosphere was like. Its hard for me to imagine 106,000 people in a stadium.

I don't know about The Shoe, but I've been to Bristol with 150K+. It is something to take in.

  3. This is so ridiculous, it is funny. The OSU bashers are ready to pounce anytime the Bucks lose. They lost by 3 to the #3 team in the nation. Not the embarassing loss most of you would have liked to have seen. Just on this website, the vote was 66-11 in favor of USC. None of the national media had OSU picked to win, or even keep it close. Good job Buckeyes. Now for the OSU fans, of which I am one. Congradulate USC. Their freshman QB did a great job of keeping his composer in a difficult situation. They outplayed Ohio State when it counted. The comments about not being impressed with him are as laughable as the crap coming from the OSU haters. Quit crying and maybe Gametime will keep his cute little sour grapes picture off of here. I'm tired of seeing it.

  4. I don't know about the other generic brands, but as a former Kroger employee, I can tell you that their brands are made by the big name brands.

Kroger canned fruits and Veggies = Del Monte

    Frozen Chicken = Banquet

Frozen Fish = Van De Camps

Cereal is made by Malt O'Meals, the big name in bagged cereal

    Jams and jellies = smuckers

    Peanut butter = Jif

Even the Kroger brand milk and other dairy products come from the same production lines as the name brands do.

I'm sure this is the same for all retailers. They are not in the production business. They find someone to outsource it to. Kroger takes pride in their brands being good, and therefore they use top of the line companies to produce their products for them. I'm sure they probably change the recipe up on some things, but as long as they are high quality to begin with, canned peaches are canned peaches.

  5. My father-in-law takes a trip to upstate New York every year in Sept or Oct to fly fish for salmon. There are tons of websites that will offer advice on guided or nonguided trips, as well as lodging options. He usually stays in a hotel, but last year, he tent camped and loved it.

  6. I like 'em scrambled, soft boiled, hard boiled or deviled. Don't like them sunnyside up. Never understood what poaching was all about, and never seen a poached egg in person. Been eating a lot of egg whites lately, for the protein; but trying to stay away from the yellows to limit the calories and cholesterol.

I don't know if they still are, but 20 years ago when I worked there, McDonalds used poached eggs on their Egg McMuffins. Basically, an egg boiled in a frame to reach a desirable shape.

  7. Made some scrambled eggs for breakfast this morning.

I really love making a fried egg sandwhich, with fried bologna, some miracle whip on toast!

You're playing my song on this one! One style of egg I haven't seen mentioned is pickled. I'm not big on a locked of pickled products, but pickled eggs are awesome.

  8. RR's not doing anything any differently than every other college in every other sport.

I really don't care what happens to RR or Michigan but to act as if he's the only one that's ever done this, or ever will, is absurd.

I think this is a practice that is very common place in any college program. To me, the bigger issue is the fact that players are the ones bringing this out in the open. It seems like they are trying to get RR fired. That will have more of an impact on the UM program than any possible punishments handed down.

  9. This thread lost the interest of most after the team from Russellville lost all three of their games in pool play, but it should be noted that the team from Chula Vista, CA won the LLWS, beating Chinese Tai Pai 6-3. The team from San Antonio lost in the consolation game to Mexico 5-4. I hate to see the LLWS end. This is something I look forward to every year. I wish it were possible to have it a little earlier in the year, as it interferes with football and makes it impossible to go. I would love to go watch these games in person. It would be great to go as a coach, but I don't want to put that kind of pressure on my 7 yr old. (At least not yet)

  10. Just curious, but how so?

    :idunno:

They, of course, do a pre-employment screening. To my understanding, they also do random testing of a large number of workers on their job sites. This is the type of work where I'm sure a company's workers comp insurance is extremely high. The majority of these windmill towers are about 300' high. The blades are 140' - 160' long. And the cranes used to set these things in place are huge. On top of that, the workers connecting everything inside the towers have to be good climbers. Although it would be almost impossible to fall from the top all the way to the bottom, it is still a dangerous job and they need everyone on their toes.

  11. A customer of mine that builds wind farms is always looking. They currently have projects going in OK, UT, CA, ID, and ND. Jobs starting soon in MO, IL, and TX. Hard work, brutal heat in the summer, bitter cold in the winter. At least 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. $25/hr + $100 per diem. They pay travel time to and from each project once, plus will fly you home on their dime every 6 weeks. Not a good job for a married guy, but a good opportuninty for someone to get some cash built up in a hurry. The overtime adds up fast on these jobs. They have a very tough drug testing policy. That is why they are always in need of workers.

  12. In a way you'll miss those things to, right?

In some ways. But there is a definate correlation to my sales $ going up, and school being in session. Having the luxury to work from home is great, but you are also open to more scrutiny from management. The performance has to be there in order to enjoy the good things that come with staying home.

  13. I work out of a home office about 40% of the time. Since my wife is an employee of the school district my kids attend, I love the first day of school. No more making sure the kids are quiet when I'm on the phone. No more interruptions to fix a flat bike tire. No more of having the wife come into my office just to "hang out" while I'm trying to get things accomplished for work. I love the first day of school!

And yes, I make sure I am working at home the first week of school.:D

  14. Out of the 365 days in a year, there is only one day your kid can say is their day. Make every birthday, even the ones they won't remember, as special for them as possible. If that means a huge party with family and friends, then do it. If it means a saturday at Great American Ballpark, even better. Whatever it is, make your child the focal point of the day. It is, after all, their day.

  15. While you are most probably correct about the team from Saudi Arabia, my guess is Canada has enough young ladies in their Country to field a softball team!

So what happens if there weren't enough boys to make a team up? Do you think the Softball LL would allow a young boy to play?

They could come from a town small enough for that to happen. My daughter played in the Mustang division (9-10 yr old) of Pony League softball this year. We only had 12 girls sign up and had to play with the teams from another town. The boys in this same division fielded 5 teams. In some areas, there just isn't any interest in certain sports. Also, there are 14 more girls in my daughters grade than there are boys.
