  1. The defense looked outstanding tonight, maybe it was partly because Cox was out. The offense did look sloppy except I thought when they ran the quick hitters up the middle. Still too many penalties and mistakes, but in the playoffs a win is a win.

Do you think maybe it was partly because Cox was out???? Here's Cox's stats from the first Ashland game:

    13 rushes for 90 yards and a TD, 9 of 18 passing for 124 yards and 1 TD,0 ints.

If you remember Cox threw a pass with 3 minutes left that was dropped that would have been a TD to tie it.

It was a supreme effort on Mason's part seeing how coach buchanon didn't find out until around 2:00pm on friday.

  2. Thanks! Can't believe I overlooked that... Guess I'm still in shock over the QB getting suspended. Though BGPreps may not be the most professional place to state the reasons why the QB was suspended, it appears 'professionalism' and being fair isn't the main priority at MC. I sure hope this doesn't happen to a basketball player during the Regional or State Tourney. Oh wait... I don't think they would dare do that to a bball player! But you better believe, everyone will be watching to make sure that all athletes are handled in the same manner and that all abide by the principal's rules! We sure wouldn't want any discrimination among the sports here!

From what I know the kid that stole the sacred gameball hasn't been disciplined yet. Why did the administration wait until Wednesday, if ever, to deal with the kid who stole the gameball? I know from a good source that the Cox kid told the other student that he wasn't in the mood and to stop "bad word" messing with him. Shouldn't the kid that caused the situation be dealt with, at least, at the same time as Cox? I heard Cox is a straight A student, a national honor society student, and a great kid. I think the Cox kid would say he should be punished but why did the administration come down so hard on the reaction and not the cause of the problem???????

  3. Anytime you can get your son into a competitive situation it is making him a better athlete. He should still be able to lift either at school in a lifting class or before or after practice. Just make sure that he stretches before and after he lifts, also he should shoot baskets after he lifts during basketball season and throw and hit off a tee after he lifts during baseball season. Lifting can be incorporated and it will help his performance. Of course you shouldn't schedule lifting on game days. Good luck!!!!! :ylsuper:

  4. The Tomcats need to come out on the first set of downs and set the tone.If we can get a couple of hard CLEAN hits then Mason may fade quickly.

I agree with 51 that hitting and hitting hard will win football games. Mason is not very big or strong we should be physical with them and show them we came to play in the Tomcat tradition.

Mason is not strong?????? There inside LBer #27 benches 350 and squats 600 pounds. He is 5'5" 185. I saw there QB #10 knockout Greenup county's inside backer #52 on a bootfake. #10 benches 315 and squats around 550. That is there QB. How is that not physically strong???

  5. Ashland won the first round, but Mason will be hungry after getting hammered by Johnson Central. The elements really hurt Mason County especially offensively. The defense was on the field way too long. I'll take Mason- 28, Ashland - 21 with decent field conditions!!!!!!:ylsuper:

  6. Word has it that Cox will definitely go out for basketball; Marshall does not strike me as having a basketball body. Cox may be able to help replace Mikah Turner up front.

Word on the street is that Cox benches around 315 is that true???? If so and he is halfway decent in basketball he could be a big banger on the boards for Mason!!!!:ylsuper:

  7. Thanks to the Royals for answering an earlier post I titled Mason County Royals Question??? You answered alot of questions by playing 4 quarters of Mason County football in the mud!!!!!! It was good to see the Royals playing 4 quarters of kick-butt football. (No disrespect to Lawrence County) Now let's step up and build on this for next week. Gooooo Royalssss!!!!!!!!!!!:ylsuper:

  8. hey mad stork... you want PASSION??... get yourself a date... and watch Love Story!

I would respond to your statement but I can't really talk football to somebody who would post something about a chick flick on a football site. Thanks for your input John Wayne or is it Jane Wayne????

  9. I am not implying that it is the coaching staff. There just seems to be a lack of focus a.k.a. penalties and not finishing drives. I don't know how many times that the Royals have been in scoring position then turn the ball over, have a penalty, etc. For a team with this much talent you think the players would understand the excellent chance they have to be a great team. If they would match their talent level with PASSION they would be an awesome force.

  10. To all the Royals fans, players, coaches , or those that are concerned: Why is it that the Royals seem to be not hitting on all cylinders yet? The boys look like they are all playing hard but there are times when the Royals are not focused or playing with PASSION!!!!!!!! This team is loaded with talent but sometimes it seems like they are going through the motions and not playing with a lot of PASSION and EMOTION. What is the answer for our beloved Royals??????

  11. Kudos to Ashland's kicker for keeping them in the game the first half of Mason County game. If Miller would have connected on the reverse - pass I think the outcome would have been different for the Mason County game. I like Ashland's size on their line. They are a good team and will overpower Lawrence with their running game. Also Ashland's play action pass to #3 is scary. Ashland - 45, Lawrence - 6
