  1. This is a weak excuse for Dunbar's recent lack of success. The two years we went to the semifinals, their wasn't a practice field either. A passing game can be taught in a parking lot, etc.. All you need is about 30 yards to teach a reciever how to run routes. There's a baseball field with a large outfield at the school and it's not baseball season. In year's past, soccer has practiced in the baseball outfield and at a local park. No rock and a hard place for practice. Must be something else.

You sound like you have been there done that! You can teach anywhere that is for sure. I know some programs who practice in their gyms! I still think Dunbar has top notch facilities and a top notch program. They have athletes year in and year out. I hope they get it together.

  2. Lafayette has played a weaker schedule the the rebs, so I thank Boyle will win big. Lafayette has played a cup cake schedule this year, so this will be there 1st real test, and they want pass it!

From the rakings out today from Cantrall, Franklin Co. is ranked higher than Boyle. North Bullit is ranked slightly lower than Boyle. Lafayette has beaten both of these excellent teams. I wouldn't exactly say they played a cupcake schedule.

  3. Did you take a look at OHSAA's website that has the figures?

    Obviously, not.

Like I said, these are small independent school districts. There are probably 4 or five in the county. Combine these and WOW! These schools might equal a 1 A in KY. One of the above posts stated they had a little over 200 in 9 10 and 11th grades. Don't you count 12th? Like you said before, I haven't looked at the website. I am just going with first hand experience. I will look into it...obviously.

  4. I don't think South Point is that small.

Greenup Co should pick up their first win this week. They have shown the ability to move the ball in the new offense. This should be a pretty good game.

    Greeup Co 27

    South Point 21

I am from that area. It is that small. Usually those high schools in that small area...Chesapeake, Fairland, South Point, Coal Grove all have really small independent districts. Usually around 100 per class maybe a little more. Ironton is and always has been bigger.

  5. You're right that Dunbar has great facilities to play on but let me bring some things to your attention that you may not realize. Coach Hensley has to fight tooth and nail to get practice time on the football field each day with mens and womens soccer among other teams. This means that he gets a total of about 2 hours to practice and prepare his team for one of the hardest schedules in the state. Yes for those of you who do not know PLD does not have a practice field. Kind of odd that I come from a class A school that can have one but for some reason a 6A school can't. I know for a fact that the day before PLD had their grid against West Jessamine they had to do a walk through in the atrium of the school because girls soccer had the field. I also know that they have been forced to go into the gym numerous times due to scheduling. If you want to talk telent and how much you think that school has then that is open to speculation. However, practicing 2 teams (Frosh and Varsity) on 100 yards of playing surface is kind of difficult and puts Coach Hensley betweena rock and hard place.

There are other schools in town facing the same thing and they still produce. Dunbar is very lucky in their facilities. There are other teams that battle for field time with soccer etc. without any practice field. Just ask Lafayette...I'm sure they would have something to add to this. Was this a problem in the previous years? Dunbar has always been a top notch program and I think they still are. However, they need to adapt and overcome.

  6. Just unable to score against decent teams. At least not enough to win the last two games. Not having a passing game in their offense hurts them a WHOLE LOT.

But they SHOULD have a passing game. There are tons of schools who would love to have the athletes and facilities that Dunbar has. This school has loads of talent. If they get it together they will be a force to be reckoned with.

  7. First off, Congrats to Tates Creek and Ty Sparks on a the win. Everyone on that team showed great class.

Please keep in you thoughts and prayers Andrew Liggett. He is an exceptional young man. We are all hoping for the best news on his knee. I hope that the other injuries to Tackett & Mason are not serious and they can be ready for the Admirals next Friday.

To these fine young men in the GRC program. You must keep your heads up and keep moving forward. Many teams have been in the same position you are currently in, and rallied to reverse there course. Your potential on the field is unlimited, but you must put aside any differences individuals may have as work as 1 unit. 1 TEAM.

For the coaches, we GRC fans are behind you and support you. We are appreciative of all that you do for these young men. But there are obvious changes that need to be made for the good of the team.

Let's focus on the positive things that happened in the game and build on that. Another tough game next Friday.[/quote]

Was a pleasure to meet you last night MNCM. :thumb: I felt that Josh and Douggie would be available for the game this Friday, but may not be 100%. Yes do keep Andrew in your thoughts and prayers....will know more after MRI this week.

Both teams played their hearts out last night...is was sad to see someone lose in this game.

    Good post MNCM.:thumb:
