  1. 4th Quarter

I'll stick with my observation that the little school on Clays Mill is usually the best in Lexington, not Louisville. In the past six years we've beaten Male (defending 4A champs), St X, Boyle (Defending 3A Champs), Highlands, Covington Catholic, Bowling Green, etc. etc. etc. It's the only team in recent memory in Lexington to have a state title. The last, and only, time they played Henry Clay, guess who won? LC! Like you, I wish the publics in Fayette county would play us. That would settle this discussion and be a win-win for all Lexington schools.

Yes you beat Hc on a goalline stand. HC was beaten handily by everyone else in the city that year. I think they won 1 game that year. The road is paved for another title this year for you guys, not much comp... I think HC, LHS and PLD would all win your class this year.

  2. The best team in Lexington is usually that little school on Clays Mill

Sorry but they did not do too well against Trinity this year either, down about 45 by Halftime in a scrimmage. LC is not better than HC or LHS..... I would love to see them play.

Also Lex football is not as good as Louisville PRIVATE school football, but the publics..... its all about the same....

  3. "Son of Bear".......you have obviously hit a nerve!

I think after tonight that nerve will really be sensitive because I think Dunbar can/will win against Lafayette.

You know Openyon, I think Dubar does have a shot. The nerve being hit is that I really don't like something being said in that context which has no place in a post. It wasn't what was said, it was how it was presented. Harmon doesn't need the likes of me coming to his defense. No hard feelings...I hope for a great game!

  4. No sour grapes.....I just want Lafayette to win a playoff game (1 win since the mid 90's?).....he has every chance in the world tonight to gain some respect statewide by changed Lafayette's recent history...

Well why didn't you just say so in the first place Bear??? I am so glad to see you offering support of the Generals! :D

  5. If Dunbar wins, will we see Harmon crying on the news after another 1st round exit?

Boy Bear, this could be one of two things...sour grapes since he probably beat your team severerly at one point, or just plain jealous of the guy. Harmon is a total class act. I am sorry to say I can't say that about everyone.

  6. I would find it very hard to beleive that the parents, kids, and other coaches were not talking amongst themselves and to others in the community. Something like this would not be hard to leak. I think whoever would do such a thing would get caught and punished pretty quickly.

  7. Lafayette played without their 3 ( Gifford being the best ) best players, take out Trinity's top three and they would also be a different team. Gifford played about 3 or 4 plays and still had a big 1st down catch, had he alone been healthy it would have made a big difference.

Their team would have been a lot more confident with #40 on the field.

  8. There is no doubt that Boyle County will have problems with Dunbar's speed, if Dunbar can properly utilize it. Trust me, Boyle County can and will stop the dive plays. Dunbar needs to devise a scheme to get the ball downfield or on the perimeter in order to utilize their superior team speed. Problem is, I haven't seen them do that yet this year.

Dunbar is turnover plague. The winner of this game will be the team with the fewest turnovers.

I agree that turnovers will be key, but I am going with Boyle on this one, but it will be close.

  9. The turnovers certainly helped. Henry Clay scored two defensive and three offensive touchdowns. They had 274 rushing yards, 18 first downs, and 414 yards of total offense. I do not understand your point? This game was over early in the third quarter.

Lafayette dropped one touchdown pass (Eric Shaw in the second quarter).

I certainly hope these two teams meet again. I am certain that the score will not be as lopsided as that one was. Then again, I don't look that far in the future and I certainly don't discount the teams right in front of me. I hope Lafayette redeems themselves this Friday.:D

    GO GENERALS!!!!!!!!!

  11. UGLY... That is the only word that comes to mind.

    Trinity-49

    Lafayette-3

The only thing ugly is the field :) I think that Trinity is an excellent football team and has proven themselves time and time again. Lafayette is a great football team when they decide they are going to play. Both teams are extremely well coached, but it will be difficult for Lafayette to compete without the depth that Trinity has. Lafayette has a great advantage at home and being the underdog.

  12. I will qualify this.......if Tates Creek hasn't thrown in the towel, I think they have a good chance to beat Bell County. I think Ty Sparks could have a big night, but it bothers me that Ty has run for 300+ yards and the Creekers have been beaten??????

Bell County has not played a difficult schedule and it may show in their trip to Lexington.

I am agreeing with you on this one Openyon...I think this one will be closer than predicted in this thread. I don't know much about Bell except they have an exceptional coach. Do they have a solid defense? It does help that Creek is on their own field. I have my fingers crossed...

  13. As it turns out playing a pass happy team like Lex L for the last game should help the pass D get ready for HC. HC is much better on D then in the past and have a much better balance on O then we have seen in the past. This will be a very good game.

Oh, when do they play HC?
