  1. Indians put up 5 TDs in the 3rd quarter, game was 13 - 13 at the half.

Great games by Mays, Kavanaugh, and Keyshawn Simpson. Central had a long TD run by Simpson and a long interception return for TD called back by penalties, lots of homer calls for the Commodores tonight that really hurt Central in the 1st half.

The Indians passing game and defense will have to get better as district play starts next week.

As for Tates Creek, they look to have more athletes from the past couple seasons, but they still just aren't very good. They have a very talented RB in #3 James, but they don't get him the ball near enough. This team would be so much better suited power running instead of chucking it every play...

Chucking????? This team is improving weekly. MC is a very solid football team and Creek was the underdog. I look for Creek to keep improving and peak when they need to. As for the homer calls...whatever. These two teams were going at it the first half. As for a "power running team" comment, I think Harmon knows what he is doing.

  2. I watched this game, as you would expect Tates Creek had several miss fires early but their passing game was taking shape later in the game.

They are young and marching to a new game plan, But they were sure fun to watch and I think the Commodores will be around much sooner than a lot of people expect. They have some sophomores who are amazing Jonathon Meadors leading the defene and Jontez Jones another sophomore standing tall in the back field.

Harmon has the right people on the bus, when he gets them in the right seats Tates Creek will have a Sun Shinny Day.

I couldn't agree with you more. This is a young team with a new system and it will take a little time, but Harmon is an excellent coach and will get the ball rolling! It definately was a fun game to watch (even without a win), and there were some good things happening on the field for the Creekers.

  3. After speaking to a few insiders I was told that 1st team vs. 1st team 0-0. 2nd vs. 2nd 7-0 TC. All of PC scores came against either freshman or fresh/jv mix. PC varsity did not score. I don't think they even got inside the 20. The TC players that did not play were for injuries or discipline.

  4. Why? Seems to me a coach would want their key players to get as much "live game" time as possible for everyone.

Everyone got reps. TC played 3 qbs and rotated throughout. When the TC varsity and PC varsity played it was 0-0. TC freshman got beaten by PC JV. Creek looked great.

  5. I agree with the Guru! Possible one of the better jobs in Ky, for sure Central Ky. Just does not make a lot of sense?????

Regardless good luck, they always have awesome talent at PLD.[/quote

From what I heard, they had a hard time finding interest. It can't be that bad over at Dunbar. I also want to congratulate Coach Howell. I wish him the very best.

  6. Another problem for some of the top "name" coaches is that Fayette County requires a coach to teach five or six hours each day. Many coaches at other schools do not have that requirement.

I can't say with 100% certainty what the job pays, but Fayette County coaches pay can be pretty poor when compared to others around the state of Kentucky.

I wouldn't say that they all teach classes. And I am sure the pay isn't that big of difference compared to other districts. I am just wondering what the real problem is at PLD. The only ones that can answer that question are the other coaches around the state. I can't imagine why this wouldn't be an attractive opportunity for someone with experience..??.

  7. That's what i was wondering. Are the Lafayette players working out at all. One or two weeks of no weightlifting can be huge when the season starts.

It is business as usual at both schools. Harmon and his staff are already in place at TC and there are several coaches still remaining at LHS continuing their program.

  8. Gamer, you make great sense. Harmon did a great job at Lafayette and if he can match that at TC, the city could be in trouble. There is a lot of talent in that school, he will have to get guys out of the halls and onto the field. I hate how much talent is walking the halls, not playing this great sport. Harmon will get them out, he does a good job of that.

Honestly what you just said is on the mind of every coach in the city. He has left Lafayette in great shape and looking to be the team in town this year. He and his staff are incredible at what they do. He is known for his motivational skills, so I am sure he will get the kids on the field.

  9. In my opinion, whoever wants to take the Boyle County job should talk to Coach Pardue and get his honest opinion of the difficulty in keeping the monster happy (spoiled fan base?) after those 5 straight titles. I think some of the BC contingent are out of control with their expectations and this is going to be a problem going forward.

If I were looking at this job, that would be a major consideration.

You are absolutely right. IMO this has to be one of the toughest jobs in the state. The pressure with the expectation has to be intense. I have always thought Coach Pardue did a great job there. It had to be rough following a "living legend".

  10. The success or failure of either team comes down to what kind of staff he can put together. I know the Horsemen staff is a good one, his Lafayette staff was a good one and I expect his TC staff to be a good one. I see no problems.

I have been told that former Horsemen head coach Mike Zuckerman will be joining the TC staff.... thats a pretty good start.

  11. Dunbar shut them out in the playoffs, they shut them out in JV, returns more starters, and Lafayatte lost Bunch, Gifford, and now their head coach. On paper Dunbar has a clear edge for this season.[/quote

That is all just great. However, "on paper" is wonderful, but it just doesn't hold much weight with me. Everyone looked better on paper than Lafayette.

  12. Bear, you were on the right track. Harmon has always had strong ties at Creek. He is a legacy so to speak. From what I understand, he had a hard time with this one due to his strong loyalty to the boys that played for him at Lafayette. Lafayette will be fine this year and whomever takes over this team has a great foundation laid for him. Hopefully, Harmon will work his magic at TC and return them to their former dominance. When you look at it, he lives in that district and that is where his kids will go to school so the move makes sense. Best of luck to both Lafayette and Tates Creek this year.

  13. On paper for next year with Dunbar's returning class and knocking Lafayette out of the playoffs I would think they should at least have an edge over Lafayette in the preseason. Not saying anything about the other Lexington Schools just Lafayette and Dunbar.

Sorry boys, Lafayette is loaded this year.
