I hate it when kids get hurt, but I'm glad to see people support the kids like this. As a fan of another district team I want to say I hope he gets well soon.

 They are 62 wins and 139 loses in B-ball over the last 5 years. You call that a Basketball school.
I am glad to see someone so interested in Estill County. You seem to have all the stats.

We started a youth league a few years ago and now the first kids to go through it are just getting to middle school. Maybe down the road we will see some good results from it.

Two struggling teams. Who can pull out the W?
-
Our RB went to Morehead for a year and got redshirted, then just quit for some reason. He's not doing anything with football now. We quit the double wing because most people figured out how to defend it. I don't know the reason for running this new offense, but I hope the kids can get it down. They seemed to do okay with it, but they just get the air let out of them easily.

When does Fleming play Russell this year?
-
Thanks for the respect Rockdoc, you understand that some places don't have the luxury of playing countless athletes every single year and they must do what they can with what they have. I didn't see any Russell fans laughing in 2003. It is not very humorous when kids give everything they have and get beat.

Pretty good shape, just one or two spots that don't want to drain well. Hopefully they will dry out today though.

Estill is in a rebuilding process too, but we never have the amount of kids most other schools in this district do. We are mostly sophomores on both sides of the ball, and have some kids questionable for this week. We have shown improvements too, especially last week. I look for a good game out of both teams. The last time I was on a team that played East Carter it was a good game until the last buzzer, and a heartbreaker for our bunch. Good luck, see you guys Friday.

How has East done so far this season?
-
Can Dunbar turn things around and have a good season? I haven't seen their schedule, but isn't it time for them to start playing some pretty stiff competition?
-
This will really benefit the smaller schools, giving them a better chance at making playoffs and letting the coaches schedule more of the games they would really like to play, be them more challenging or a guaranteed win.
-
Russell is too much for Morgan. It would have to be a bad day for the Red Devils and a good one for the Cougars.

I hear East is down this year, maybe Estill's possible first win. If we can keep them out of the end zone I know it will be interesting, our offense has a lot of potential. We scored 20 points last night, which was 20 more than anyone expected.

From my stats, Hoover was just below even on the win/loss column. I can't think of any other place in the state that celebrates mediocracy like that. I am not blaming Hoover though. THey are still looking for a tradition to move in. I blame geography more than any coach or any kid.
What is wrong with the other guy? Other than having no talented upper classmen the last 2 years. those juniors and seniors now haven't won a football game since 6th grade at least. not an insult-it is a FACT.
This is not a fact. These seniors were a part of the 03 team that won 8 games. And Hoover deserves more respect than you want to give him. With the inconsistency of kids around here I think it was pretty good what he did. And don't say we celebrate mediocracy-because we don't. It hurts every time these kids lose a game. Our administration might celebrate mediocracy, but others in our football community don't.

Hoover Niece was a great coach!! He got the best out of what he had to work with. Not the case with the guy they have now.
:fight: Seems to me he has got the best out of teams in the past. 8-3 in 03 and 5-5 in 02, plus top rushing team in state. You seem to forget that and want to judge over the last couple of years. We have some young athletes in Estill and things will look up eventually.
-
I myself have faith in Mike Jones. I know how hard it is to build consistency in Estill County and appreciate his hard work. You doubters seem to keep forgetting about 5-5 in 02 and 8-3 in 03. Not to mention #1 in the state in rushing both years. If you think he can't coach ask Russell about 2003. That was first success since 95. We are starting 8 sophomores this year. Our time will come again.
