  1. Caldwell lost alot off there 9-1 team from last year but were playing well in the scrimmages they had before the season...I really expected Caldwell to be competitive in this game with Lone Oak pulling it out in the end...Like Toothpick said, Lone Oak will surprise alot of teams this year, I believe they may be a contender to at least make state, but, I doubt seriously they could compete with Lex Catholic or Bell Co on that end of the state, if they got there..

yeah I think the stats would look quite different if they were in another district, like the district with Bell and Rockastle and Knox Central. It looks like Lone Oak would like to play at least some competitive games.

  2. To be fair, Madison Central is a pretty good 6A team. However, they had one of their best players out, their best other player was injured early, their starting QB got taken out, and the backup may have just made himself the new starter. Nice depth.

Didn't Isaiah Kavanaugh come back in the game though?

  3. yep....and I agree. That has been a problem with Southern....they have talented players but haven't had the depth needed, but they did pull out the win that game. And it will be good competition for both teams this fall.

Injuries happen and if I remember correctly KC was without a starting running back for that game. If you want to be a considered a playoff contender you must develop depth and bring your A game everytime. Regardless, it will be decided in October.
  4. No actually MSHS had some injured players for that game....and no sense going into those details now... But we'll see ...should be a good game between Knox and Southern.

QUOTE=Pepper II]There was a reason MSHS played a bad game last season. They ran up against a young KC team that was just beginning to come into it's own. The outcome will be different this season and others to come. In fact, I liked what I saw coming out of McCreary last year and I predict Southern will sit out the playoffs once again.

  5. 4A District 7.....I see this district different. Madison Southern will be in the finals, will beat Knox Central(like last year and Southern even played a bad game)and will beat McCreary. Madison Southern played last year after losing at least 15 starting seniors (many started both ways). This year they have only lost about 5. Defense was the problem last year but now these players have more experience.I wouldn't be surprised if they don't have a great season. Also, just heard they hired a good defensive coordinator (former college coach),so I'm hearing they are looking better. Also, got a top quarterback, Zach McGuire, leading the offense.

  6. Just a quick note of observation to any senior that might want to spend their camp time at Eastern... The Tennessee All-Stars had more EKU signees on roster than the Kentucky All-Stars. That shows that EKU is definitely not interested in KY players. If i was a senior that wanted to get looked at in my senior season i would take myself on down to Bowling Green.

what if the EKU coaches are visiting your school to see you , even head coach Hope, do they still tend to not offer scholarships?

  7. WKU's camp had a good showing of athletes throughout the state. Covington Catholic's running back ran an excellent 40 (4.5) and Beechwood had a defensive lineman who ran a 4.6. Campbell County had a big kid, a linebacker I think, run a 4.7 in the 40.

Mason County and Clay County look to have good quarterback's heading into this season.

There were several offensive and defensive linemen who were impressive. I thought it was a well run camp, and WKU can capitalize on thier upcoming move to 1-A, as well as thier new facilities.

Any other QBs have good showings at EKU or WKU Sr camp?
