  1. Clay will be a pre-ferred walk-on. After visiting UK last weekend he knew that is where he really wanted to go. He loves the school and wants to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. The UK people believe he can help the team either as a slot reciever or DB.

Did he make a football official visit or academic visit?? How does this preferred walkon usually work? Do the coaches just call the player up and offer a walkon status or does the player call the coach and ask if they can walkon?

  2. From what i believe they rarely have non-preferred walk-ons. Most schools dont hold open tryouts anymore. Atleast thats how its done at Eastern.

So EKU doesn't have tryouts anymore? So if a player is interested in walking on the team, what does he need to do and when? Does EKU take many walkons?

  3. I just recieved a phone call from a reliable source and he said that Clay Cecil has just commited to Murray State University. Clay has been told by the coach that they are looking at him to play Outside linebacker which they use as a Rover. We are all very proud of what you have accomplished thus far Clay and could'nt be happier for you and your FAMILY. Keep up the good work!!!

I know he played QB but did he play linebacker at all in high school??

  4. The Richmond Register is reporting that Hope may be leaving EKU for Purdue as early as Friday this week. This may affect recruiting because some of these high school players being recruited by EKU may be influenced by a coaching change. On the EKU forum, which may not be true, but they are saying that Purdue is also recruiting Coach Hope's son Chaz, from Madison Central.

  5. Tilghman threw the ball quite a bit when they had a QB that could do it effectively. Hunter Cantwell put up some pretty good numbers at Tilghman, even with Joe Casey with him in the backfield.

So as far as recruiting, any guess if he will look for a qb who can pass the ball or will he be more interested if the qb can run the ball? or do they hand it off alot to the running back?

  6. You're right. I'm just tired of someone trying to convince me that a team (Bell Co.) that beat two teams on their schedule with winning records could win convincingly over a team that defeated not one but two top ten teams on their way to Papa John's.

Well there were alot of Lone Oak fans on these boards thinking they had a chance to beat Lexington Catholic or at least be in the game, but that didn't happen either.

  7. I'm not even going to get sucked into the private/public debate but it is what it is. Lexington Catholic had twice the numbers and Lone Oak is a county school that hasn't, nor will they, consolidate with the other area county schools. Lone Oak would have fared just fine against Bell County. Might not have beaten them but they are still a solid third in Class 4A.

Have you watched Bell County this year? I sure disagree with you on this. Bell would have easily handled Lone Oak and I've seen both teams play. I don't think Lone Oak could have even played with Bell, like they couldn't play with Lexington Catholic.
