  1. I got this information from the KHSAA website and I hope I interpreted it correctly.

    Region 1

D1 (Western Kentucky) vs. D2 (Owensboro)

    Region 2

D3 (Hardin, Meade, Bullitt, Nelson) vs. D6 (Northern Kentucky)

    Region 3

D4 (X, Male etc) vs. D5 (Trinity etc.)

    Region 4

    D7 (Lexington) vs. D8 (Mountain)

    Semi State 1

    Region 1 @ Region 2

    Semi State 2

    Region 3 @ Region 4

Other then the most obvious results of matching Louisville districts in the 3rd round who are the biggest winners and who are the biggest losers in this setup? The Louisville survivor will have to travel for their semi-state match-up but this hasn't caused to much hardship for them recently.

I think that the NKY district is helped the most by this. I think they will finally have a 4A team in the championship game. Whoever comes out of region 1 will have a long trip for the semi-state. And I think the NKY teams are overall better then those in D3.

    Any thoughts?

Is the matching of Louisville teams in the third round going to be an annual event or did it occur because of the draw?
  2. I am a little confused, how does a team get picked 2nd when :

    1) returning 2005 Ky. High School Football 4-A Champs.

    2) returning Jefferson Co. #1 QB from 2005

    3) ranked 15th and 26th in the NATION by High School Football Publications

    4) ranked 6th in the Midwest Region by a High School Football Publication

This Team and Football Program has delivered time and time again?

What Trinity last year is irrelevant. The question should be: how many starters are coming back this year?

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Don’t look for a Trinity-St. Xavier matchup in the state 4-A football finals — for the state’s largest schools — this fall.

Don’t look for all-Louisville final at all.

Dear Guru, you are being too tough on the KHSAA. To suggest that the draw might be rigged against Louisville schools is ridculous. :)..

Actually it is a pretty good plan, All of the schools will get bigger revenue in the first two games because of the distance factor. Boone County v. Dixie Heights will bring in more money than Boone County v. Ballard or Fern Creek.

I also like it because every district will have a team playing a third round game.

It does prevent some Louisville schools from having a chance to play a second or third round game. Historically that would be Manual, PRP and Ballard

This year could be a bonanza for Trinity and St. X if they play in the third round. Their ADs might contact Papa Johns now just in case. In fact, the third round game between any two Louisville teams might be at Papa Johns.

The K in KHSAA stands for Kentucky. I think KHSAA may most of Kentucky happier.

  4. The reason that I ask this question is because high school bands come to Honolulu in April to march down Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki. Last nite there was a band from Pensacola, Florida. Bands from Michigan, Iowa and midwestern states have come. Most come from California. It is a great vacation for the band and the families. Some of these bands have 150 members. Are there any high school bands in Kentucky that have done the major parades? I do not think that my alma mater, Trinity, has a band so at least we need not discuss putting Trinity in a different class.

  5. Great advice Bob, however its a little easier to follow in your location. The past couple of seasons have been pretty hard. We have had to endure all manners of advice about how we should correct the problems within our program. Pretty hard to take indeed. But, I'll try to be the bigger man and turn the other cheek.

I realize that if you live in Louisville you have heard all about the St X dynasty. And it irritates the hell out of Trinity alumni. I was told that St X manhandled Trinity in the games in 2004 and 2005. I read that St X freshmen and JVs were beating Trinity. I questioned Trinity's ability to "recruit"(not used in KHSAA manner) the best players. But it seems that the better the other team is the harder the other team plays. It will always be that way between the two schools and will always be the incentive for both schools to develop good teams. The annual game may even get bigger as the number of living Trinity alumni will, in about ten or fifteen years, be as big as the number of St X living alumni. I remember when I was a freshmen in 1958 Trinity beat St X(we never beat Flaget in my tine) and the Xmen were shocked. I sense that there is that same type of shock this year. I hope Trinity can put together a great team next year. I have read that St X will be great again next year.

  6. Well, I can see that the "classy post" period has ended and the pebbles have entered the low-ball potstirring phase. This topic has no merit whatsoever. The St. X. football team laid a clunker last Friday night and lost to a deserving Trinity squad by a narrow 14-6 score. In reality, we all know that in this rivalry anything can and often does happen.

In terms of the status of the St. X. football programs, we could not be happier with the performance under Coach Glaser's leadership. This is especially true over the past couple of years, where the offense has been diversified somewhat, and the Tigers "broomed" the wee-weeds at all levels during the regular season. Mike has been, and always will be, a much more caring and personable individual than Beatty, who despite the results of Friday night remains a very controversial figure in the trinity community. The future still looks much brighter in Tigertown than in the St. Matthews landfill. I'm standing pat on my hand...the real question is are you drawing ONE? :sssh:

Dear Oxnard, many of we Trinity alumni were stunned at Trinity's victory and we are well aware that St. X has gone to three straight state finals and has great freshmen and JVs in the mill. The way it seems to be going Trinity will be playing St. about four games a year.
  7. Then I think we Trinity alumni should not post questions to St X whether it needs a new coach. Give me a break. St X has been to the last three final games, won one and came close in the other two. ST X has had three great years and appears to beating Trinity in freshmen and JV games. Sure, some St X fans are arrogant. They should be because St X is a great school in education and sports. Let us Trinity alumni not be arrogant.

  8. This season has to go down as one of the most disappointing in the history of Tiger football. Several potenial college caliber athletes, a back that was offered as a sophomore and a QB that had never tasted defeat. Dream senario no doubt. Mix in the feeling by most X faithful that situation over in St. Matthews was chaos and it just couldn't get any better for the Tiger clan. Too bad they had to actually play the pesky game. So now the Tigers must face the fact that Bob Beatty can best Mike with All Americans and without. I would think that the Tiger faithful are uneasy at this time. So Tigers I ask you, is it time for a change?

LSU Rock you have got to be kidding. Right? Mike Glaser has taken St. X to three straight state finals. In the last ten years St. X's record is 115-21, St X has been to the state finals five times and won 3 championships.
