Comes down to Daniel and Vanhoose and how each team contains them.

In the regional tourny its all about defense. Hardly ever do we see a score in the 60's and very rarely the 70's.

7-29 and 1 of 14 from the three.
That explains the low scoring out come.
-
Tonight vs Russell they were 0 of 16 from three and 9-31 for the game.
Gonna have to do better at Morehead.
Very lucky to squeak by Lewis County.
But in this region anything could happen.
That is a really bad shooting night. How did Russell shoot? Any team with numbers like that usually lose.

I wouldn't be surprised if we seen Greenup playing Saturday night for the right to go to Rupp for the first time since the Ward era. They are very athletic and quick on offense and shot it as well as anyone left. Combine that with their exceptional defense and they could really make some noise.
-
The question is: How does Russell only score 24 points? WOW
-
If they can shot consistantly for three nights you may very well be right Frances.
-
Ashland comes in playing great basketball. With recent upsets maybe very well be the team to beat with Fairview and Russell right behind them.
Ashland's tough schedule have them prime and ready for the big games.

Greenup gets hot and shoots the three well.

Remember best player does not mean best scorer.

Look for that game to go down to the wire.

When was the last time Menifee was at the regional tourny?

East gets cought up in the transition game that Elliot plays and Morgan's rims are very kind to an already great shooting team.

Raider95,
I think Cubster's poll reflects the level at which teams are CURRENTLY playing. While I agree with you, there is a general consensus among many people that Ashland is playing their best basketball right now and I agree with the assessment.
The question is: Is Ashlands best ball deserving of being ranked # 2?
In all realiality though ranking do not amount to anything. Find it somewhat comical that its such a big deal. Most rankings are opinions and different point of views.

Rowan brings in momentum with big win over Fairview and keeps it up and wins a trip down the road to Ellis T.

Wouldn't one incorporate how this player uses his team mates during the course of a game and throughout the season. POY isn't all about ME. Its the best over all player in the region not the best scorer. Owens hasn't guarded anyone all year. I vote Vanhoose, Jones, and McCowan all over Owens for the simple fact that they play defense and just does what it takes to get it done. Nothing flashy or spectacular and knows how to get thier team mates involved.
-
Fairview controls the boards and Barker hounds Owens all night forcing him to take good shots. Owens still get 32 but rest of the team combine for only 22

Greenup is very athletic and talented. Could beat anyone in the region any givin' night. Wouldn't want to draw them if they make it to Morehead.
-
They did win the Derby Tourney in December....So I think that would make them 1-2 in Championship games.
Sorry.
Forgot about that game. Don't know if its as big as the other two but it was for a Championship. I stand corrected.
-
Owen is smooth. Very athletic
True but one player doesn't make a team.
-
WOW!
This final score surprises me. Has Fleming improved that much or is Boyd falling apart. The final scores in games played in the past two weeks show that this region is WIDE OPEN. Whoever is hot going in may just win it..
-
Final.
Rowan picks up another upset gaining momentum going into district play.
Anyone know anything about the game?
-
Rose Hill must get it into the 60's to have a chance but to much tradition on the part of Ashland and Rose Hill still young. Ashland clamps down and gets a one way ticket to Morehead where anything can happen.

I agree, but isn't Proffit a Jr.?
I think it should be a toss up between Slaughter and Crutcher but in all reality Allen will probably be the front runner.
