  1. If we UK fans are to worry about recruiting violations it'd be this year or the next...After they become successfull this year and the following, Calipari is not going to have to do much recruiting at all. Players will flock to the Bluegrass state. No need to bribe any of them.

  2. Fort Campbell Senior QB Antonio Andrews

2008 Stats: 1771 Rushing Yards, 27 Rushing TDs / 1698 Passing Yards, 22 Passing TDs

Not to take anything away from the Bluebird QB, but there is proof of ability listed above for Antonio Andrews. The Bluebird QB apparently hasn't started a big boy game and only has one TD credit in his varsity career. Don't know how that compares to Andrews and 49 combined TDs last season coupled with 3,469 yards of total offense.

Is the NKY hyperbole getting a little out of control?

Antonio Andrews for Mr. Football this Season!!

Not an offer yet, but the Vanderbilt coaching staff has Andrews on their radar.

Numbers are very deceiving. Do you ever go to the track and see where a horse has won 10 races in a row, but then look down and see the class of horses he’s been winning against. I’m sure if Bardo’s regular season schedule consists of teams with a combined total season record 46-72 as Mr. Andrew’s did last year he will put up some unfathomable numbers.

  3. Kentucky has 2 top 25 teams on one team...Not one team has had as much potential as this UK team does this year. I cant ever remember a time when a team went from losing in the 3rd round of the NIT to preseason #1 in a span of a little less then 2 months. I want to see these guys mesh first and play a few before I throw my neck out there on the line. But I think we have every right to be preseason #1 next year! GO CATS!

  4. This is the discussion I have been waiting for. The NCAA has to start protecting kids that are on scholarship. When a kids transfers he gets punished and has to lose a year of playing time. Coaches are allowed to change Universities like changing underwear and all I hear is kids play for a school not a coach.

Well here are 3 kids that "Picked a University to play for" that are now getting punished for picking to the wrong school. Neither the school or the NCAA will due right by these kids. So once again the kids are getting the raw end of the deal.

Now I understand Coach Cal wants his own kids or kids that fit into his system. But shouldn't he have to do that after these other kids graduate?

Now many on here will attack me because they can't see throught Blue Shaded glasses. But the question I want to ask is, Is this fair to teenage kids who chose your school over others?

These kids aren't good enough to play at the University of Kentucky. Thats all it is about, its about "cleaning house" so to speak. I bet the NCAA lets these kids play somewhere next year without having to sit out imo. They will transfer somewhere where they will be able to play more and get better as a basketball player. And to respond to your statement about how they picked the school not the coach, these kids didn't have the luxury the other playes had about having many great schools to choose from. UK is done getting these type of players and I wish them the best but its in their best interest as a basketball player to move on to some other school.

  5. UK will be great without John Wall, but to be a national championship caliber team we need John Wall. Our patience is being tested to the max with this guy but the ramifications of him coming here are out of this world! This would be huge for Bledsoe as well and not having the whole offense thrown on him next year. He'll be able to sit back and soak up the knowledge and experience of seeing Wall play. John Wall coming to Kentucky will make UK better this year and for a few years after that as well. So even though I am about worn out with all this, the thought of championship number 8 in the rafters keeps me going.

  6. John Wall will be a Kentucky Wildcat next year. Many people on here say recruits want to get to the NBA and win championships. If its down to UK and Miami (FL), then the championship aspect will lead him to the Bluegrass state.

You can mark this down.....Wall to Kentucky!!!

  7. And Neither did Roy Williams for the VAST majority of his career. Nor Dean Smith until the 20th season or so of his career. Nor Boeheim until what, the 30th? Come to think of it, how long did it take Wooden? (15 years?)

Truth is a lot of factors go into winning it besides talent.

Actually, I do agree with your first statement wholeheartedly and if these fans are shouting "we're #1" tongue in cheek then they ought to have their heads examined. :thumb:

So you think if Kentucky's starting lineup next year is....

    Wall

    Meeks

    Miller (or Dodson)

    Patterson

    Cousins

...they shouldn't be a legit vote for preseason #1 next year? Name a starting 5 better than that......

  8. No, you stated after it's all said and done here is Kentucky's line-up next season .... anyway, go ask the Fab Five and they'll tell you championships aren't won on paper, it's won on the court. :thumb::sssh::ylsuper::idunno:

Calipari has had lots of talented teams in the past and doesn't have any national titles to show for it.:scared:

Ok...well if for some reason this isn't the lineup next year my prediction will have to change. I said number 8 is soon to come, I didnt say next year.

And in response to your comment about the fab 5 they relied on all freshman. If you look at the starting 5 Meeks and Patterson are in there. And they about did win it with all freshman if it wouldnt have been for Webber's freshman mistake by calling a timeout.

  9. It would be serious mistake to discount Hunter Jones' ability due to his school and their competition.

I never discounted his ability. I said I dont think should be a front runner for POY. I'd choose between Maile, Darner, or Isler. Maile and Darner have put up even if not better stats against better competition. Thats just how it goes...

  10. While I understand your argument you may want to look at the other side before making up your mind. While CCH players see better teams Bellevue has gotten to the point where the teams they play use their best pitcher against them. The players on CCH also have team mates behind them who are very good hitters as where Hunter has some very quality players on his team (Alex Hegge who hits after him and others) but not the depth that CCH has though out the line up. This allows teams to pitch around Hunter who at times gets frustrated and will chase a bad pitch. This out of desire to contribute to his teams efforts. So while CCH players may see more top caliber teams they also see more quality pitches to hit as well. None of the kids mentioned would be a bad choice for POY just gets down to what player of year really is. Is it the player who means most to his team or is it the most talented player. Some like to judge it by team he is on and their record.

This is only the case when playing the Villas and Calvarys. CovCath won't throw their ace at Bellevue, and neither will Beechwood or Ryle.

Hunter Jones is a good player dont get me wrong, but he hasnt faced the top level of competition to be considered for POY. I think the most valuable player is Maile because by not throwing to him sets up his teammates for success. But the POY (best stats imo) should go to Darner or Isler.

  11. In my opinion, this is 99.9% true. I can tell you from personal experience, that the SWOL is a whole other world compared to Knothole. It's not that the kids are more naturally athletic than the kids playing Knothole in Ft. Thomas, the game is just played at a much higher level in the SWOL - similar to how football at Highlands is played at a higher level than at other area schools. The kids that are playing SWOL right now, are the same kids who'll be playing against Highlands in a few years, and the level of experience they'll have will be greater than the kids who have only played Knothole. There's just no way around it. Unless you're a super-star style athlete, if you've only played Knothole you can't expect to step in & hit top-level pitching with the same consistency as those who've been facing it for the last 2 or 3 seasons.

No player from the 9th region has gone on to play at any level of collegiate baseball in the past few years that didn't play SWOL.
