Uh oh is NCC now out of the running?

Did Hatton play QB in freshman ball last year? Did he get any reps in JV games anywhere? That all counts as experience, but I see your point about varsity experience. If he hasn't had reps in any high school games, then he does not have near as much experience as Pike. Now, I haven't seen Hatton play so I can't comment on his ability, but all those praising him here definitely have my interest perked up. I would like to hear more details about his experience.

 

Regardless, I will say, if Pike isn't the QB at Dixie this year it will be a huge shocker - for a lot of reasons. First and foremost, he is the most impressive QB I have seen in JV games the last few years, and that includes Towles. Personally, I would take Pike over Towles at QB without even a second thought.

Ryle, Boone, and NCC are as competitive as last year...but, NDA, HC, Holmes, HHS, Ludlow, Conner, SH...etc..are not as strong as they have been over the past 3-4 years...I can extend that list to Scott (about the same), Campbell, SK, Dixie, BB...and I'm sure I'm missing some...if that's not enough to convince you then it's all I have.

 

Ryle, Boone, and NCC are all 1 player (Moss or Sandlin, Crittenden or Jump, Sandfoss or Tabor) from being impacted big time...again, just my humble opinion.

Even if Highlands isn't as strong as last year, a win over Ryle at Ryle and a squeeker loss against NC at NC puts them in the hunt. I wouldn't want to play them in order to get to the region.

Ryle should get by NC.

Her and Mr. Dawn both are generally always given a kind ear or a blind eye.

Congrats to Boone JV, but the two officals in that game were some of the worst I've seen in a long time. How do grown men lose control of a freshman and jv game?

I guess this was somewhat of an upset?

Both of the big post players played well tonight.

Is this riot because of Kiffin leaving, or did the students find out that a couple of UT basketball players were coming that way.

Wall doesnt need to have those stats. He is a point guard. He does what he has to do for his team to win. He is also a game changer. When your done 6 with 3 min to play who do you want on our team? John Wall!

Highlands strapped on their football helmets in the second quarter and turned it into a real physical game which didn't bode well for NC. Grubbs demonstrated that he's the man the 36th District. The technical foul called against Watson was a complete joke!

Both teams last showed some of their strengths and weaknesses last night. If I play NC I zone the entire game. Sandfoss is a JC Bradley type of penetrator and when she does it she makes everybody on her team better. Highlands placed a taller girl out on the point and it created some problems for NC offensively. Their strength is defense. All their guards apply very good pressure.

I thought NC had trouble with Highlands inside last night. Highlands needs to continue pound it inside. The Birds definitely have to work on their press offense. NC did a great job when they pressed.

All in all on a neutral court the next game will be a barn burner. If I’m NC I press to the cows come home. If I’m Highlands I zone and pound it inside to 14. Like others I just hope this isn’t the opening game in the district tournament.

It will be a good game if Tabor can be discipline and not get into early foul trouble. If she gets into foul trouble Towles will hurt them in the paint. Sandfoss will control Allen. The role players will be the key...IMO

This should be a very entertaining game to watch this Friday in Newport. If the Birds can duplicate their effort they had on Monday they'll have a good shot.

Maybe, just maybe you will get a chance at state this year. NCC, Boone, and Ryle may want a say so in that though!

I thought Highlands would have already made it by now. This region is really up for grabs. There are some front runners, but the reality is that on a given night anyone could win.

Final Score.

Highlands was very balanced tonight. The Lady Birds passed the ball extremely well. The future is bright for the Pandas. Their freshman team has some players!

Notre Dame has very good team and the new coach is doing a very good job. I think the Birds two 1000 point scorers will be a little to much for the Pandas. The Pandas future is very bright. Highlands by about 10 or so.

Any news on whether or not Tyler Grubbs is back from Texas and playing today?

He will not be playing today or for the entire tournament.

UK by 12...Miller plays really well imo.

My facebook status was something about UK playing a good game against Ashville and he freaked out and was saying UK fans will brag about anything. He did say he loves John Wall, but he wants to argue who has a better history as well. So I argue that too. Just saying, I initiate Saturday after the game, so either he will be happy or I will.

What Fraternity are you intiating? I intiate Saturday after the game too! And I'll rub it in my fellow brothers who are diehard UNC fans!

So if Uk goes to Shreveport what Big 12 team would they play? If it'd be Oklahoma that'd be awesome!!!
