  1. Alan Williams-Marshall Co. RB

    John Cole-Somerset WR

    E.J. Fields-Frankfort RB & Defense

    Aaron Boyd-Henry Clay WR

Boyd is listed at 6'5, 195. He puts on some muscle in the next couple years, he could be a great receiver at any level. Cole and Fields both run a 4.4 40-yard dash, enough said! I know there are others, but these are the ones I have seen play personally.

  2. I agree 100% with you about the 1965 Hazard Bulldog team being the best. One other team comes to mind that was pretty tough and I am sure you would agree, that the 1986 Hazard Bulldogs the lost to PRP in the State Semi's would have to be considered IMO!

    G-Terry North

    G-Carl Wallace

    F-Greg Napier

    F-Willie Combs

    C-Dwayne Cornett

    Sub-Todd Blanton

    Sub-Keith Deaton

If I remember correctly Hazard just played a seven man rotation under Coach Roy McKamey(Not sure if name is spelled correctly) that particular year. Anyone remember?

  3. Professor, The kid from Perry Central was Ben Bowling. I remember Dwayne Deaton, but his teammates Kenneth Neace & Jody Noble, I thought could be the the best to play at Buckhorn JMO. What do you think? Dilce Combs best player IMO was Cavanaugh Trent, but Heston was a great player, both a very tough picks! Moose Moore from Owsley Co., was he the best to play there? What was his first name? I can't remember!

  4. That is a great list of players from Hazard!! Saved me the trouble of trying to think of everybody!! Some others I might add to the list are:

    David Alexander 90's

    Dwayne Cornett 80's

Steve Hall & Shane Roper were a great pair of guards in the early 90's

    Todd Blanton 80's

I am sure I have still left someone out!! Q-Man that was a good post with lots of Hazard greats!!

My all time top 5 would be:

    G-John Hagans

    G-Terry Horth

    G-Carl Wallace

    F-Jim Rose

    F-Johnny Cox

    Just my personal opinion!

  5. 1. The other bunch of Clay Co. guys that could flat out play some ball was the 92' team. Lead by Shannon Hoskins, Robert Marcum, Mark Smith, Todd Pridemore, Chris McKissic, Todd Messer, and James Downey. Clay Co. played Ballard in the the first round of the Sweet 16 in 1992 and Ballard had DeJuan Wheat. Believe the game went to one or two overtimes and was back and forth the whole way. I think Shannon Hoskins led Clay Co. with 29 and DeJuan Wheat for Ballard was amazing with 38! I think?? Clay was beaten out by Lexington Catholic in the semis.

    2. I have to say watching Breckinridge Co. in 94' or 95' was great. That was a fun team to watch!! I don't think anyone gave them a chance that year. Kind of reminds me of Hoosiers!!!

    3. Hazard vs. PRP 1986 semis!!! Hazard had a guy by the name of Carl Wallace, he was a heck of a ballplayer!! Wished Hazard would have won!! Was an exciting game none the less! Oh yeah, I remember seeing the umbrellas being thrown along with everything else!!

  6. If I'm not mistaken Lewis Morris coached Hazard once before.

If it's the same guy, he played his high school ball for one of the best teams Cumberland ever had...much better than the one that made it to the state tournament a few years ago. He played with another great player, Garrett Gregory, who went on to star for Cumberland College. I believe their really good team was 1983 when he was a sophomore. But they didn't get out of the 13th that year. I forget who beat them, but I do remember it was a huge upset and caught everyone off guard. Morris was a great shooter, and was about 6'5. I don't recall where he played his college ball.

He played his college ball at Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee.
