Once again politics get involved in high schools sports.
Sad but true!!

I do not think he has had limited talent in a long time. He had "great" talent @ Corbin but he could not beat the Green Dragons of Harlan.:thumb:
Or the Tigers of Clay Co. :thumb:
-
Corey Martin of Hazard is an excellent 3 point shooter. He proved that in Rupp Arena at the Big Show.

Imo well see round 4 of PCC and Hazard in the finals.

Hazard's 1993-94 team was 8 seconds from beating M.C. Napier in the regional final, of course they ended up losing!! If they had held on Hazard would have went to the Sweet 16 with a record 9-19!! Winning 3 of those games in the district and regional tournaments!!

3 more dawgs!! Good luck!!

Heard he got injured on a pretty bad play. Broke one of the bones you dont want to break in his wrist or something. What's the story?
Really hate to hear this!! Hope everything is OK!!

I predict this thread gets locked before morning.
You just had to be there, and even then you wouldn't have believed it. Truly sad.
Your making me very curious!!

This will be a great game, wish I could make the trip to Georgetown!! Will it be televised on any of the area stations or on the internet?

Good luck Dawgs!!

Final
Anyone go the game? Wondered what happened? What is up with JBS? I am sure they will bounce back at the right time, but seem to be struggling right now! Anyone from JBS care to comment?
-
Wondered what everyone thought? Hazard only won by one point in the 14th Region All "A" tournament. Will this game be as close as the last? I think it will be another good game, with the Dawgs winning by more than a point.
Hazard 68
Lee Co. 61

Great game by Hazard, hope they continue to play well down the stretch!! Is Powell Co. young this year, I was wondering how many players were seniors, juniors, sophmores, and freshman? Anyone know? Thanks!

Good luck Hazard!!

44 points from JBS is a bit of a surprise. Is Cox still out?
That surprises me as well!! Would have never guessed this would happen!!

IMO after watching this game, i felt that Edmonson was the best player on their team. He hit big shot after big shot and won this game for them. Hopson doesn't have much of a jump shot, he missed several shots that were , for lack of a better term, bricks. He is extremely athletic and does handle the ball well for his size, and can be force on the defensive end. But I felt that he didn't dominate the post like someone his size should , especially playing a team like Paintsville who isn't a very big team. I'll go as far to say that in this game on this day he was the 4th best player on the court. Edmonson, Slone, Grimm all outplayed him. And I know I will be criticized for such a statement but that just how I saw it from the stands.

I just wanted to start a thread giving a big :thumb::thumb: and "Atta Boys" to the teams from the small schools of the 16th region.Depending on ones opinions imo that 5 of the top 6 teams this season are class A schools.
Elliot Co., Rose Hill, Bath Co., Fairview and Raceland all have pretty decent teams and imo one of these will win the 16th Region (probably Elliot). I would love to see an all Class A region final.
Congrats and good luck in your Districts and Regional to the coaching staff's and players of all of these teams, you work hard and it is coming through loud and clear this season in the 16th Region. :thumb:
(also, good luck to the "little guys" in all regions)
I always root for the smaller class A schools, and love to see them do well. I as well would love to see 2 or 3 class A schools make the Sweet 16 come March. Correct me if I am wrong, but the last class A team to make it to the state finals was Paintsville in 1998. Is that correct?? Also, is Paintsville the last class A team to win a state championship in 1996?
-
Great game by two good teams!! Good luck the rest of the season to both teams and I hope to see both at Rupp Arena in March!!

Now I am interested in how many they made?
I was thinking the same thing!! :thumb:

I want to point out that Hazard's principal Happy Mobelini got up from his seat and got the fans excited and into the game even when the players were struggling. this helped pick them up. It made a difference. Fan support and community support is big at Hazard. I was very impressed with Euton and Jackson. There for a while I didn't think Euton was going to miss. But with that said with 2:17 remaining in the third quarter with the score 43-28 Hazard went on a 35-11 run to end the game. Momentum is everything in High School Basketball.
I agree, I thought Hazard's fan support was a big part of the comeback. Got everyone fired up at the right time!! We will need that kind of fan support again for 4 quarters today!! Go Dawgs! :thumb:

You going to the game Qman?
-
Hazard 56
University Heights 53
I will have my fingers crossed, good luck Dawgs!!

Yes unfortunately this is true. I saw John Yancy at Hibbetts today and he was buying him a tennis racquet. He said that he just wanted to focus on Tennis his best sport. He also said since he didnt care much for playing on a team, he was not going to play any doubles at all. Singles matches only. Good luck JYA you'll be another Andre Agassi.
WOW!
