  1. IMO after watching this game, i felt that Edmonson was the best player on their team. He hit big shot after big shot and won this game for them. Hopson doesn't have much of a jump shot, he missed several shots that were , for lack of a better term, bricks. He is extremely athletic and does handle the ball well for his size, and can be force on the defensive end. But I felt that he didn't dominate the post like someone his size should , especially playing a team like Paintsville who isn't a very big team. I'll go as far to say that in this game on this day he was the 4th best player on the court. Edmonson, Slone, Grimm all outplayed him. And I know I will be criticized for such a statement but that just how I saw it from the stands.

  2. I just wanted to start a thread giving a big :thumb::thumb: and "Atta Boys" to the teams from the small schools of the 16th region.Depending on ones opinions imo that 5 of the top 6 teams this season are class A schools.

Elliot Co., Rose Hill, Bath Co., Fairview and Raceland all have pretty decent teams and imo one of these will win the 16th Region (probably Elliot). I would love to see an all Class A region final.

Congrats and good luck in your Districts and Regional to the coaching staff's and players of all of these teams, you work hard and it is coming through loud and clear this season in the 16th Region. :thumb:

(also, good luck to the "little guys" in all regions)

I always root for the smaller class A schools, and love to see them do well. I as well would love to see 2 or 3 class A schools make the Sweet 16 come March. Correct me if I am wrong, but the last class A team to make it to the state finals was Paintsville in 1998. Is that correct?? Also, is Paintsville the last class A team to win a state championship in 1996?

  3. I want to point out that Hazard's principal Happy Mobelini got up from his seat and got the fans excited and into the game even when the players were struggling. this helped pick them up. It made a difference. Fan support and community support is big at Hazard. I was very impressed with Euton and Jackson. There for a while I didn't think Euton was going to miss. But with that said with 2:17 remaining in the third quarter with the score 43-28 Hazard went on a 35-11 run to end the game. Momentum is everything in High School Basketball.

I agree, I thought Hazard's fan support was a big part of the comeback. Got everyone fired up at the right time!! We will need that kind of fan support again for 4 quarters today!! Go Dawgs! :thumb:

  4. Yes unfortunately this is true. I saw John Yancy at Hibbetts today and he was buying him a tennis racquet. He said that he just wanted to focus on Tennis his best sport. He also said since he didnt care much for playing on a team, he was not going to play any doubles at all. Singles matches only. Good luck JYA you'll be another Andre Agassi.

    WOW!
