Sure everyone knows about Grim, Tackett and Johnson, and they're all teriffic football players, but there's another kid who is only a sophmore at Johnson Central who is really proving his worth.

 

Chase Richardson, may be one of the best "All-around Athletes" on the team. Plays at TB, can play FB, played D-line last year and some this year and has saw some PT at linebacker this season. We must also remember he did not even play the first 4 or 5 games due to an infection. He is one player that can go from just about any position and contribute their.

I think Dials is a very good player also, but the list could go on and on. This team is talented on both sides of the ball.

When it comes to mountain players Shawn Grim from JCHS may be the best out there. He is one outstanding talent. The kid from Rockcastle has to be mentioned as well. I believe the two best players in the mountains are from JCHS and Rock.

The biggest problem all 57th district teams have is THE DRAW. Matt Fyffe and Justin Blanton are capable of beating anybody, but when you throw in Paintsville's #1 or Lawence's #1 or SC's#1 , it's a crap shoot. IF JC can get into the region that's when pitching depth means everything. I think JC will do very well if they get into the regional tournament. Until then just hope our #1 can stop somebody else's.

On a sloppy field, the Tomcats win this one 22-13.

 

On a good field, I'll go with the Royals, 27-26.

I think Ashland / Mason has the makings of a dog fight in the first round.

5'6 165lbs

He ran a 4.52 in his last combine appearence at Centre College this year.

He benched 185lbs. 28 times as well in this combine.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong but I can only remember Johnson Central's starting defense giving up 2 touchdowns all year.

How big is Miller? Anybody got a 40-time?

Boy am I glad to read this. There was a wild rumor going around the Ashland section tonight that Kasey had broke his collarbone in an ATV accident. It's great to see that there was no truth to that. Congrats to Russell on the win.

What is the tiebreaker if Mason were to beat Johnson Central? There would be a three way tie for 1st.

I feel JC is the cream of the crop in this district, but I thought Ashland would lay down in the second half. With a few exeptions,they did not. Beware of becoming too cocky Eagles you will see a team out for your head next week, and a different Ashland team if we meet again. Remember UNFINISHED BUSINESS.

That was a hard hitting game, if you don't believe me ask the Ashland coach and the kid on JC's sideline. Glad nobody was hurt but the shot the coach took was pretty funny.

Ouch!!! I would say a 35 to 7 margin is domination. Was it all Grimm between the tackles?

Sometimes it's you should think twice about what you wish for, it just might come true. ;)

 

Actually I am kinda hoping for the same thing myself.

The score looks like a "men vs boys" type of game. How did Thomas do? Tomcats may have their hands full with the Lions next week.

After tonight you can put to rest the Grimm - Thomas debate. Thomas wasn't even the best back on his team, Davis was. Thomas wanted no part of JC's defense. The coaching staff quit giving him the ball. Grimm on the other hand was hit harder tonight than any other game this year and he kept bringing it to the Tomcats. Unless Mason has someone better he is hands down the best in the district. I'm hoping to get to see Miller from Rock

I'm just going to throw my 2 cents in on the whole deal. For the most part some of our own JC fans while thinking they are supporting the Eagles have really done nothing more than make themselves look like complete idiots and have only in my opinion embarrassed the whole school system by constantly rattling on and on and on about mostly nothing. xyience you have done far more damage to the Golden Eagles this whole season than you could ever have dreamed of helping them. Hey for one time act like you have traveled out of the hollow before. Where in the heck do you come up with all the garbage you post on here? Again in my opinion you have only embarrassed yourself and all of Johnson Central, the players , and particularly Coach Matney this whole season long. Eagle01 , you started out good with sensible posts, but the more and more I read I have come to the conclusion that you are coming down with a bad case of xyience-itis. Man I hate to get on to our own fans but I swear I wish some of you guys would just shut up for awhile. Even if we haven't been there before, as least act like we have been there before. I can see why people state wide might think we are nothing but a bunch of nuts. Come on guys tone it down, you are not helping anything. And to everyone else reading these threads away from here, I promise that we do have a few fans that have a little sense. I swear we do!!!!

Why do we keep getting Kramer in this thread? It is about AAA Region 4. No disrespect to NKY since I live here, but not every star player has to come from here. I am not going to debate which kid is the best because there is no way to tell at this point in the season. There are no common opponents or anything else to compare the two kids. I guess if both teams make it far enough in the playoffs to have a Rock vs Highlands Round III then we will know the answer.

Not to put a damper on things but Orbzut looked great in the scrimmage as a freshman. I remember thinking he could possibly leave early for the NBA. I missed that one.

Don't feel bad I did too, and I have had my head in the sand ever since.

Miller from Rockcastle has some impressive stats the last few weeks.

Flipper, where is your prediction and analysis for this game? The thread starter generally offers an opinion. Also, I wonder if it would be possible to request that a moderator add a poll to this thread, similar to last week's Belfry-Sheldon Clark thread?

 

That might entice more Ashland posters to contribute to the discussion. Some of the more vocal Tomcat supporters from last season's pregame thread seem to be having a difficult time finding this thread.

One of the reasons I started the thread is because of the scrutiny JC has been given over not playing anyone. I know that the records do not show it but personally I thought LC was a very well coached team, moved the ball well at times, and played hard. They were just young and overpowered. I also thought Greenup was a better team than their record showed. LC and GC both gave Ashland better games than they did against JC. From what I was told both were very respectable games until late, then got out of hand. (which is usually what happens when you face a team with more upperclassmen and depth.) The games against JC were just blowouts. I thought LC had a very good chance of beating Boyd County.

I have seen both teams play and IMO JC will come out on top. Ashland has a good team but I don't think it will even be close I think Mattney will turn his boys loose friday night and it might even get ugly. What I notice most about the two teams is JC will be alot more aggressive than Ashland . If Matt Thomas would lower his shoulders and just run hard it would help thier running game but from what I have seen is most of Ashland running back don't like to get hit and they are going to get hit hard come next friday night. I will take JC by at least 14 points because mostly it's going to be played at JC if it was at putnam well we all know how things goes their:madman: . Good luck to both I wish we had an open date this week because this would be a game that I would love to watch .
