  1. I don't think the decision was made with anything in mind but the safety of all involved. Both schools' byes have been consumed. There are no open dates. Weather on Saturday was no better than Friday, so no matter what, that wouldn't have been an option. Both teams have to play their district games and preparation begins with film on Saturday. So, it's a shame, but no one was ducking anyone, and it's just a fact of life that sometimes circumstances occur that are out of our control.

I know of no fan asking for their money back. Whether I paid $5, $10, $15 or more, I'd never ask for my money back. It was an "Act of God", so to speak. The schools should feel no obligation to those who bought tickets, and the people who bought tickets should not feel they are owed anything.

The money, whether for a 10 minute game or a 2 hour game, benefits our schools, our students. Small donation in the overall scheme of things, don't you think.

Good luck to X in the upcoming weeks.

    And, as always...

    GO ROCKS GO!

:thumb: Very well stated Rockmom...well....except for that part in Green;)

  2. I liked Manual's tall LB..I believe he was.#45... "The tool" Belt was also very good on the Ram's defensive line.

Manual's announcer was very entertaining..everytime X RB Osborne got the ball...he would yell out Ozzy Osborne with the carry...among other quips...nothing mean-spirited though...

  3. UK looked like that had a chance to pull the upset in the first half. Some bad breaks hurt them....and it would have done wonders to at least tack on a FG before half....bad call....clock should have stopped.

The second half...the O-line was worn out...QB had no time to do anything.

I do believe that UK is better than most people give them credit....And I was one of those people...

  4. I know it's over a month away, but after watching the game today I'm not very confident that UofL can beat WV without Brohm. Cantwell looked good, but nothing stood out.

Bottom line, UofL did what they needed to in order to get the win.

WV wasn't very impressive today....If ECU didn't fumble and commit stupid penalties...they might have had a shot...WV's passing looked horrible...several INTs

  5. The remark made that 2 X defenders fell down to open the hole for Tim needs some rebuttle.... X should either get some coordinated players or give T's O-line some credit for darn good blocking.

Read the rest of the sentence...it said.."probably a fine quick cut by Phillips"

Trying awful hard to find a villian....I have given more credit to T players by name and/or position than any poster in this thread....any T or X poster...

  6. Very poor decision by Coach Marksberry that let DHHS get back into the game.

4th down for SK on the Dixie side of the 50 with 3 minutes left in the 4th qtr in a half where Dixie's offense has done absolutely nothing. Instead of punting and making them go 70 to 80 yards in 3 minutes, he went for it and was stuffed. It absolutely gave Dixie new life. A few plays later, Dixie ties it up.

Let me say that I know about 10% of what Coach Marksberry knows so I'm not claiming to be smarter. This was a poor decision that IMO cost them the game.

That's one of those "Hero or Zero" calls...he makes it..he's a hero....miss it...the zero....Gotta give him gutsy no matter what though....

  7. Well, I guess Trinity will never ever get a W against St.X that their fans think we deserve.

You deserved this win (according to the rules) and the State Championship last year...no one is disputing that....Just disputing the what ifs.....

I have found no one on either side that wanted the game to end like this.....

Rocks played good...I've stated that over and over in this thread..have made mention of several T players...I'm just not buying the other rhetoric...

    Your closing was great...:thumb:

  8. Lets say that Duece may one day pass that test, but he failed the quiz last night.

You're awesome.....I thought we had a RB controversy, wasn't that your rhetoric...but now you dis Duece to make it fit your fantasy....

I've never taken a one question quiz....or been graded on less than 25% of the whole test...

  9. Thats your side of the story and I'm sure you'll stick to it. I saw an X team that didn't seem ready to play. Turnovers and missed tackles. The Rocks were taking it to them. I think most would agree that it would be a bigger challenge for X to turn it around (minus Vic) than for the Rocks to continue to roll. You also forgot to mention that Trinity would have at least been up 13-0 if not 17-0 by the end of the quarter. Your willingness to throw Wade under the train is a little sad, he is a senior and probably gives X a much better chance for the rest of the season than Zoeller.

Didn't throw him under the train...he was off ....and he was taken out for Zoeller...he probably would have gone back in after he settled down...

A a coach..I've taken my best players out of the game when they are off...they get a chance to settle down and see from the sideline what I was trying to teach....they often go back in and do much better.

  10. This comparison isn't valid. Trinity had two offensive drives (out of 2) last might that put points on the board and they had three (out of 3) defensive stops (two coming off of turnovers). These happened even after they gave X a 1st down on a stupid roughing the kicker penalty. Miami had 1 good offensive and defensive series. Unlike X they were able to put points on the board after Louisville gave them a 1st down.

Your narrative is a little mis-leading....Those two drives weren't like they marched down the field in a totally dominating fashion.

The first drive was aided by a stupid facemasking penalty on X. The X man was face-masking Petrino away from the ball....and that kept T's drive alive....Phillips then had a very nice run where from the replay showed 2 X defenders falling down to open up the hole....probably was a fine quick cut from Phillips.

The second drive wasn't a drive at all. I believe the interception gave you the ball 1st and goal and T took the fieldgoal...

    2 drives 85yards...60 of it on 1 play...and some of the remaining 25 on a X penalty.

Defensively T did an excellent job of stuffing the middle. Not much of anything was going through there. The sweep and off-tackle was productive.

Wade was forcing the issue. His attempted pass to Vic on the slant was very dangerous and almost intercepted...Vic had 3 guys around him. The wide-out on the play was not covered. The interception he did throw was right in the T players numbers. Good coverage by T.

The fumble was after a very nice run where Duece broke several tackles for the first. X also stopped themselves after an illegal motion penalty nullified the first down.

X was already adjusting....Zoeller came in for Wade...

To phrase it like you did...you left out many important details...

Could they make up the 10...would X fold in despair and give up?...would T build on this lead?..... would a change in the big MO happen later?.....who knows...maybe..maybe not.......

....only 3 more quarters would tell that story...

Like I've said several times now...Congrats Trinity on the win.

  11. Unlike X they were able to put points on the board after Louisville gave them a 1st down.

    refer to Post #44.

  12. And he is even a better punter, although I don't think he as punted a ball in a game in a few weeks.

He will get plenty of punting duties if he takes UK's offer....I was very impressed with him...and like I've said before his back-up Petrovic(sp?) isn't too shabby either...

  13. What about that Tydlacka? Three kickoffs that averaged about 9 yards deep in the end zone and were high. They did not seem to be wind-aided.

Nice 10 minutes for T. T is physically tougher than they have been. Vic gets peppered pretty good when these teams play.

Can't draw a lot of conclusions from this "game" but I would say that T is at least competitive with X from a personnel standpoint.

    Tydlacka is awesome!

I paid special attention to his size after reading some other threads about him...He is big boy!

  14. I am not trying to compare X's skill players with UL's...just trying to show that games are not won in the 1st Q....and a good team is more than just one player.....I was using UL as an example....

We could look back in history for about any team and show where they came back from the 1Q...its not uncommon at all...

Like I said...Congrats Trinity on the win.

  15. We will never know, but X didn't show much sign of life in this one. As far as history goes, its just that... history. I think if you add up the fact that X's QB was pulled after throwing a pick, X's star back would not have been able to return, his sophmore replacement had just fumbled in the biggest game of his life to this point. It doesn't paint a "comeback" picture. X was down 7-6 to Highlands at half, when they came back out it was a steady diet of Vic to the rescue. X isn't the same team without him. Good luck, and I hope these two teams get a rematch in November.

T played a great 10 minutes and earned respect. According to the rules...that both sides do not like....the get the W. I think everyone involved would have liked to see the end of this one....

Your comments ..however...are very similiar to talk about UL this year...they can't get it done without Bush...they're QB is out.....The Miami game started very similiar for UL and you see what happened....

We will never know...Congrats on the win T....for the only 10 minutes that counted...you earned it...
