He ain't getting any younger and I don't see the Lakers picking up Bronny to make him happy enough to stay around another year. LeBron has a player option for next season that he could opt out of if he wanted to move.

I've read a compelling article outlining that Dallas could be the perfect place for him if he wanted to chase another ring. I'm sure there are a few spots that even a 40 year old LeBron could help get over the hump for a title. Biggest question is, would he be willing to play for the veterans minimum to make a move possible.

I guess my question or questions are, was this his last game as a Laker and will he be teammates with Bronny someplace next season?

If James truly wants another title, I think he should consider going to the Warriors. Allow the Warriors to move on from Green and his antics, and James basically fills Green's role of that point forward that Green has, but also would bring more scoring. I think the Warriors and Curry can make one more run at it, and adding James would be the missing piece for both James and the Warriors.

I would like to see Gary Pence from Cooper finally get his opportunity. He has been coaching under Borchers at Cooper for I think around 10 years now. He was the Freshman head coach at Cooper for a while - recently moved to Varsity coaching QBs and as the Special Teams Coordinator. I know he was a finalist for the Ludlow job prior to Woody getting hired. He also has a degree in Special Education. Could have the opportunity to lock an in-school coach for a long time with Pence!

I agree. If Walton looks to bring in someone from outside the program to get a new perspective that he would be a good hire if he applies for it. A good young coach with a lot of experience that has worked with some very good coaches in NKY, as I believe he was also at Conner before coming to Cooper.

Just for one year? The KHSAA site has Barth as coach in 2009 and no one listed for 2008.

Correct. Woody McMillen was the first head coach for the program, but only for the first year. Then I believe he had to step down for either health or family reasons after that first year. Then Barth took over for him starting in year two. Which now Barth is back with Woody at Ludlow.

I have no idea but at a minimum I would like to hear the reasoning for the move.

And what a big win for the Ludlow Panthers!

Does anyone know if he is close to retirement? If so it could be to up his top pay for retirement since I believe Ludlow pays more than Walton in regards to teaching salaries.

It seems UK's roster is nearing completion. Are we able to identify any starters at this point?

Honestly to hard to really predict since not really knowing what Pope likes in his starters. His first few guys he brought in were known more for their defense, and then now also brought in a lot of good shooters. We know his offense is fast paced with a lot of three point shots. So does he start the game with more of his shooters, or like a mix n match with a few defensive guys with shooters. Just to hard to really predict, since no real true like stud where you know they would start. The only one I feel pretty confident in saying he will start is Williams at center. Other than that it’s a pure guess. However, if I had to guess I would go with.

    Pg Butler

    Sg Kriisa

    SF Oweh

    PF Almonoh

    C Williams

Correct. I'm with the 95% (and that is probably low) that does not keep up with Farleigh Dickinson.

Ha same. Only time I have heard of most of these players were when their names were first introduced as guys UK we’re interested in and then I read up about them. Other than that I didn’t know much about any of them except for like 3 players.

I get what you're saying that you'd like to have happen.

You can achieve the same thing by putting my transfer portal plan in place and not worry about NIL.

I know. I’m actually trying to help get players to still have a chance to benefit from NIL. If they were a rather unknown recruit and ended up at a small school and didn’t get an NIL deal. This would allow them an opportunity to benefit if they blow up and transfer right away so they can make money and not be stuck at that small school for a second year not making anything.

I just don't think signing an NIL deal with a third party can be used to tie one to a school. You could limit transfers as I posted earlier, I just don't think you could limit them based on an NIL component.

It is not much different than what you originally posted of a free transfer after they been at a school for two years. I'm just saying getting an NIL deal going into your freshman year is what initiates that having to stay for two years before getting that free transfer. The only change basically I included was IF they don't have an NIL deal going into their freshman year, they don't have to do the stay for two years before having a free transfer. Basically allows those small school players that maybe didn't get an NIL deal to be able to transfer after one year without having to sit out, this way they can capitalize now on probably being able to get an NIL deal if they have a good freshman year.

Thursday night football twice and Monday night football twice, geez.

When did they start having teams do two Thursday night games? I thought everyone only got one Thursday night game, and that every team had to have one. Yet this year there are many teams with two Thursday games, and about 6 teams that don't even have a Thursday night game. I don't remember it being like this before.

5 and 5 at best.  They are not beating Cov Cath, Cooper, Highlands, CAL or St. X.  They have some pretty good players but they seem to always have good players but end up 5-5.  Some of that is because they play a tough schedule and some of it is because I just can’t figure it out.

I think they will beat Highlands and CAL out of those teams you just mentioned.

NIL horse is out of the barn, it will not be regulated in any substantive way.

Never once said anything about regulating it. Just saying if you sign any NIL type of deal going into freshman year, it becomes likes a two year contract type of thing. Where you can make as much money on NIL as you want, but you must stay at that school for at least the first two years. If you do transfer after your freshman year, then you have to sit out a year.

I'd like to see the following changes made to the current transfer rules.

    1) Every player gets a free transfer with no sit out period giving them immediate eligibility, if they have spent two full seasons at school.

    2) Players may receive a free transfer at any time if their head coach leaves the school for any reason.

    3) Other than #1 and #2 above, all other transfers will have to sit out a full season before being eligible to play for their new school.

Addition of rule 3 would hopefully temper the current madness of the transfer portal each year.

I really like those ideas. Only thing I would change would be say if a player didn't receive any NIL money, then they don't have to wait two years before having a free transfer. If a player goes to a small school and doesn't get any NIL money and balls out. They shouldn't have to wait those first two years of college before getting to capitalize on it. If a player gets an NIL deal going into their freshman year, then it basically becomes a two year contract type deal where they have to stay until after their sophomore season, Then after their sophomore year, they can shop for a bigger and better NIL deal. Or if they do leave after freshman year, then they do have to sit out a year.  I think no matter what after their sophomore year, they should be allowed to transfer though for free at any point. Trying to get players to at least have to commit to the first two years at a school out of high school would be a good move IMO if they get an NIL coming into their freshman year. If a player doesn't want to have to wait until their sophomore season to transfer, then don't sign a NIL deal as a freshman and bet on yourself and then have your free transfer right after your freshman year.

Just saw on ESPN that Cal is considering limiting his current and future teams to 8-9 players.  Seems his reasoning that everybody entering the portal makes him question why he should develop players for other coaches.  He wasn’t worried about depth and plans to fill the roster out with walk-ons.  Don’t I recall about 2 Cats out every game because of some injury or another?  What’s really going on her Cal?

Honestly I think he prefers having a shorter bench, this way doesn’t have to worry about how to manage minutes for everyone. This way don’t have to worry about players bringing down the culture by being upset with not playing. Plus, besides for 2015, to me his best teams were the ones where he usually only had 7 or 8 guys in the rotation at most. So I think he prefers having a shorter and so saying this, instead of announcing that he rather not play as many guys.

I’m not sure anyone saw Reed as a one and done recruit. I certainly didn’t think he would play as well or as many minutes  as he did his freshman year. Wish I could have gone from high school to millionaire in 2 years! 😂

Ha I know. Cal actually had a decent amount of guys that were not suppose to be "one and done" type guys that ended up being first round picks after their freshman years. Yet many people always acted like Cal only recruited one and done type players. Sheppard was the latest example of a guy that wasn't thought of to be a one and done guy, but ended becoming one under Cal.

I'm glad Mark Pope did what John Calipari refused to do.

If Kentucky would have let Trent Noah go to South Carolina, it could have been a replay of the Chris Lofton years.

Now Travis Perry and Trent Noah go from playing at Rupp for the state championship to being teammates for the Cats.

    Let's go!

    IMG_5485.jpeg

While I think Trent will be very good, that is a pretty high comparison comparing him to Lofton. Lofton was a third team all American as a freshman and a consensus all American his sophomore and junior years. I don’t see that for Trent, at least not right away his freshman year like Lofton did.

Don’t sleep on this kid, heart of a warrior and will back down from nothing, great catch for Pope!!

I’m not sleeping on him. I even said I hope he comes here and I believe he could help this year and be a big time player for a few years.

Pope was loving on his team in the Herald this morning, but said he needed one more piece.  Specifically a big guard that could make a play when it was really needed.  Sounded like Noah Fant could fit that need perfectly.  Really exciting to watch him for the first time during Sweet Sixteen.  Noah checks a lot of needs for either UK, Tennessee or Louisville.  Hope you can get him Coach.

I don’t think Noah Trent is necessarily that guy in regards to going to make a play for you really need it, at least not as a freshman. Great shooter, and good basketball player. However, IMO what they are missing is a guy that can truly go create his own shot when things may be breaking down. I don’t think that is Trent next year. With that said I absolutely hope he comes here, because I do think he can help this year and will be a big time player for us over the next few years.

How will we ever replace the 2 points he put up against Oakland?

For years people were begging to have three and four year players. Yet when you have three or four year player, some fans make comments like this.

In a perfect world Thiero would come back, and also get Jaxson Robinson. I would love a starting lineup of.

    Butler

    Oweh

    Robinson

    Thiero

    Williams

That lineup would be great defensively, and then bringing shooters in off the bench with Brea and Kriisa. Then Carr, Chandler, and Garrison.
