Why take back your quote. You are entitled to your opinion. I as well thought it was unneccessary to be playing Jude so late in the game. I am pleased with the direction Matney has our program going but it gives us a black eye with people around the state when they see things like this. Dont get me wrong, JJ Jude works his tail off and I was happy to hear this accomplishment but I really dont like the way JC got it.
Classy post! :thumb:

Add to that list last year against Boyle. When the Rebels won 49 to 7 he accused Boyle in the post game of running the score up because they passed the ball on long situations in a late drive. He failed to mention it was the JV offense vs. his first string defense. He then proceeded to proclaim that he would be buying out the contract and not play the Rebels in 2010. :idunno:
Also add - when he lost to Ashland in 2005 on a muddy field he accused the Tomcats of using "mud cleats".
It seems his attitude is that nobody ever beats him "fair and square" - and if he gets a chance to "rub your nose in it" he always takes it.
Congratulations to JJ Jude and Johnson Central.

Congratulatons to the Indians!
This year’s Tomcats seem to be under achievers. Their only remaining shot at dignity looks to be a road victory in the play-offs.

It's so far away Ashland always pays them on Saturday.
I wish I could help with directions, but I got lost the one time I went there. I do remember that it's not near the high school - it's in a park complex outside of the town.
-
Number 60, a linebacker for Ashland, played one heck of a football game. I was very impressed with him.
Don't know your name, but if you are reading this, well done young man.

Has Greenup County annexed Ashland?
I know what you meant.:thumb: They kept giving score updates on all of those games at Russell.
We’re near neighbors (as you knew). Tonight it became obvious how weak football is in our local area – with Russell, Greenup, Raceland and Ashland all losing big district games. It’s hard to judge how good (or bad) your team is when all the early season games are between these teams.

Congratulations to Belfry!

Congratulations to Fairview!

Congratulations to Mason Co.!

Rough night for the Greenup County teams. Greenup, Raceland, and Russell all beaten soundly by their district rivals.
Add Ashland to your list.
Congratulations to Lawrence Co.
-
Congratulations to Johnson Central, the best team won.
The Tomcats can do no better than 2nd in the district again this year.

This will be a great high school football game! I think LC's weak schedule leaves them a bit unprepared. But, I think they will survive the shock to the system at home. I have to give the edge to LC until someone in the district beats them - they were undefeated last year (regular season).
-
Mason is clearly the favorite this year and I think they will win. But, I think Russell coud get the upset at home.
-
It will become a big game.
Very quickly.

What makes it so hard to come out with a win at Putnam Stadium? It's been said on here three or four times Putnam stadium is so hard to win at. WHY? ...
I’ve thought about this over the years. Some of the common answers I’ve heard are:
Officiating – I don’t believe this, refs are assigned, and I don’t see much difference in officiating home or away.
How other teams react to Putnam (intimidation) – I don’t believe this either. The old place just isn’t that impressive, especially by today’s standards.
I think it is the way the Tomcats respond to Putnam Stadium. I think they feel pressure to live up to the history and tradition. They play their hearts out to be found worthy.
-
Good point. Geography doesn't seem to have watered that game down.
They say, "distance makes the heart grow fonder" ...
-
Not to skew the thread at all, but I'll be glad when they demolish some of that hallowed ground at Putnam and replace some of the concrete mess with something better. I am excited to see how it turns out. Now if they could just figure out how to get a parking garage.
Plans are being developed. We do have a new score board.

I expect a hard fought game, with the Rams pulling ahead at the end.
-
^^ Thanks Oldrambler. I'd be happy with a 2-point win!
-
Frankly, I'm worried. The Tomcats "stunk out loud" at Ironton - and they historically don't do well with a week off.
-
Ashland will host Johnson Central at Putnam Stadium.
What are your thougbhts about the game?
-
I would pick Mason - BUT, Russell doesn't lose many at home.
-
Nice win - Congratulations to JC.

Congratulations to the Rams and their fans!

Too close to call? Home field advantage could be the deciding factor.
