It was a good game and a tough loss for the Tomcats. Congratulations to the Golden Eagles.

Congratulations to the Eagles!

^^ No, Baker did not play. Coach held out several starters that need to heal. Several younger players got playing time.
-
Congratulations to the Rams!

^^ Sprained ankle, not a break.
-
Congratulations to Mason Co.

This one was a hard hitting, hard fought game – much closer than the score indicates. Belfry’s defense is very good and stopped Ashland’s running game cold. But, the Tomcats managed some big plays to get the win on senior night.
Congratulations to the Tomcats!

I thought Ashland started flat. But the talent differential became obvious before long. Gotta give Boyd credit. They played hard. Good to see Bruner kick a 41yd field goal.
Yes, the FG was something you don't see often enough in high school football. And Boyd played hard!

Boyd Co. moved the ball better against the Tomcats than I thought they would. Also, the Tomcats had at least 3 turnovers and too many penalties. I don't think coach Hart will be happy.

Always good to see a KY team beat Ironton!

Quentin Baker is a very special athlete.
Yes he is (he is just a freshman).
-
I hope not Ramdad50, they have played each year for 53-years (I think, anyway some large number of years).
-
The Rams are looking good.

I know you love those centers. And QB's too. :thumb:
You know I do. I'm sorry Drew was hurt. I'll keep him in my prayers.
-
Ashland's starting center was taken from the field. He has a fractured ankle. He is a hard working young man.
-
It was all Tomcats. Russell's only score came when the subs were playing.
The Tomcat D is pretty stout. Baker (a freshman) rushed for over 200.
-
The Tomcat defense played great in the second half. They held GW to a net 12 total yards (23 passing, minus 11 rushing - for the whole 2nd half).
-
Congratulations to the Rams and all their fans!

The Rams played tough, but turnovers killed them. When they get the turnovers under control they will win a lot of games.
Congratulations to the Tomcats (but there is a lot of work to do).

This game should be a battle at the LOS. I think the Tomcats will win that battle - and the game (by 2 TDs).

Congratulations to CovCath and good luck next week!
-
The most improved thing about this year's Tomcat squad is the defense - featuring a lot of young players that will be back next year. I hope we can make this game interesting!

I’m told Coach Heart scheduled George Washington because they are like CovCath. GW is currently ranked 2nd in WV (according to their web-site) and are undefeated. We gave them their best game so far (18-14 at Putnam). It seems Coach has been anticipating this game with CCH for a long time.
I think this will be a very good game. CCH has to be considered the favorite, but upsets do happen.
Is Leon Hart out at Ashland?

My two sons played for Coach Hart. Between the two of them, I had a son on the team for the first 7 of Hart’s 10 years at Ashland. I watched practices, games, film, and I’ve been in his home. I saw a lot of Coach – through good times and bad.
Leon is a good football coach and a good teacher. More importantly, he is a good man. He made a positive impact on his players and students. He will be missed by many – including me. I wish him all the best.
