  1. Some sweet 16 observations. 1) if a team has more than one player with a mullet, you probably shouldn't be there. 2) game times should be two hours apart. Not 1.5 3) 25 min between games for a 16-17 year old to loosen up is way to much. 4) 15 minute halves way to long.5) 14 timeouts in a 32 minute game. With the one media timeout per quarter there is no need for 5 timeouts per team in a 32 minute game. 6) anyone know who that was posing as Cameron mills??? 7) did trinity really go 14 min without scoring? Twobadteams was right about 7th region.

They called Cameron Mills' name, but I think that was really UK nose tackle Matt Elam. :sssh:

  2. Trinity had no answer for Weyer. Rocks led this 11-2 at one point, then failed to score in the 2nd quarter.

I had to witness it to believe it.

I have been going to games for 50+ years and have NEVER seen a shut out in a quarter before today. And, I have seen some really rotten basketball teams.

They were able to score, unlike Trinity in today's second quarter.

    Unbelievable.

  3. I would say Iverson at Georgetown...was crazy fast. He is the quickest dude, with the ball, that I can pull out of the memory banks.

Iverson is the quickest with the ball I have seen. John Wall and Ty Lawson are up there, too.

Dwight Anderson was quick and fast, while Dicky Beal was more quick.

Although I don't remember him much at UCLA, Russell Westbrook looks might fast these days.

  4. Ego.

    Exactly, PP92.

As competitive a guy as Coach Cal is, it is not hard to see him wanting to be successful in the NBA. He failed miserably during his few years with the New Jersey Nets. He finished his tenure with an overall record of 72 wins and 112 losses, and a .391 overall winning percentage.

I am sure that does not sit well with his ego and I could see him wanting to give it another try, at some point in his life.

  5. I have no issue with how this was handled. New AD wants his guy. First day on the job.

It's not like the fired coach doesn't get paid. He has 2 years on his contract. Life as a college coach. That program has gotten stale. Lovie brings some energy to the program. Good move.

Does a coach not have the opportunity to tell his players?

Hearing everything on social media is the new proper way of communicating? I personally think not.

  6. They are two very good teams, but only one can advance and it will be a very capable Dunbar team.

A shout out to Henry Clay senior Isaiah Tisdale. He had an outstanding career. I think he has a huge upside and was hopeful that the Blue Devils would advance deep into the Sweet Sixteen to enable this young man to get some deserved recognition from some college coaches with a scholarship left. He can play at a high level, but does not have those type of offers at this time.

He would definitely be an outstanding player in the OVC, Missouri Valley, or Horizon Leagues.

Maybe even a little higher level.

  7. Lovie Smith would be a great hire, but....

The way athletic director Josh Whitman handled this one (I understand the players learned of their head coaches dismissal via social media) has a lot to be desired.

I really like Lovie, but he better be watching his back working for this guy. That is if he takes the job.

  8. POY Carson Williams

    Quinten Goodin

    Mason Faulkner

    Isaiah Tisdale

    Alex Cook

    Connor McKim

    Matt Wilson

    Ben Weyer

    Tyrik Edwards

    Darius Williams

That's my all state team with Carson Williams as my Player of the Year. David Sloan, James Boone, Tyler Sharp, Taiveon Hollingsworth, Terry Tayor and Caleb Taylor all deserve plenty of consideration in my book and I could see why other people would pick them.

    Good list!

I would move Taiveon Hollingsworth of Dunbar on the list ahead of his teammate Darius Williams. In fact, I would probably put Dunbar's Jordan Lewis ahead of Williams as well. JMO

  9. Isaiah "Pun" Tisdale is the best player I have seen this season. I haven't seen Carson Williams.

Isaiah gets wherever he wants on the floor with the basketball, and sets up teammates to make baskets. He is very difficult to pressure and has about a 2 to 1 assist to turnover ratio. He is very unselfish and has been told multiple times by his coaches to look to score more.

He is very much getting looked over by some Division I schools, especially in the state of Kentucky. NKU ought to be begging him to come and run their point the next four years. Sean Woods, where are you? Western Kentucky...Ray Harper...give him the ball and let him get you off the hot seat. EKU...he is in your backyard. I really like what he brings between the lines.

He is the kind of player that you really need to see more than just one time to realize how valuable he is to his team.

    Pun is SNEAKY great!
