Beside being cozy HHS is in the middle of a major construction project. Elder fans be prepared to walk anywhere up to 1/2 mile or better. I would suggest buses or a long walk. With everthing going on around and in that stadium it will be a circus. I also heard the HHS Canon crew will be packing the mother loads. Wow what an atmosphere this one will be.

Sounds like play action and QB draw will be the ticket then if that is the case. You know from experience that Dale also has some of those goofy tricks up his sleeve if needed.

Sorry, I am a little rusty. 2) The percentages just say its Dales turn to finally beat Ramsey and the Panthers, both OH coaching series and KY series.3) I believe HHS speed will be too much for Elder. I like the Birds in a dandy 10-7.

I do like the Birds in this one for a couple of reasons.

1) Highlands home field advantage is worth 7 pts.

Thanks OB, I guess my point is, t eams like Elder just lull you to sleep with there 5 yds and a cloud of dust on offense and then wham!!! just when you not looking there defense steps it up and takes one away. Certain team philoshophies are simple, defense hold them to one td or less and our O will get what they need to get for the Win. As always offenses get all the glory but it sounds like yesterdays game was a defensive gem by the Purples.

IMO, if Highlands doesn't turn the ball over, they win the game. CCH had 4 turnovers inside Elder territory, 3 of them inside the 20.

Elder doesn't have the strong power running team they have had in the past. They are solid, but not overpowering. The QB was very inaccurate.

I hear what you are saying, but turnovers are classified as forced or unforced. I didnt see the game but I would be interested in knowing if a good Elder defense forced them or did CC just cough them up?

Not to take anything away from the Birds but I don't see it happening in Ft. Thomas this year especially with the Freight Train they are getting ready to run into. Hat off to Dale though, he knows how to win the big ones and thats by not playing the cup cakes to achieve an undefeated season but to ready his boys for the game that only counts in Ft. Thomas #17.

Unfortunately its at the little league level due to the competiveness that society has placed on select sports. Just 10 to 15 years ago the same comment was probably being made about H.S. sports but if you havent noticed sports are a big business out there and kids and parents are jockeying for attention and an any edge over the competition. So if you havent already noticed by this thread Ky. takes its sports very seriously even at the 13 yr old level and its worth debating about for us. Whats next

That's not a hard call to make and that would effect the runners. A lot of umpires are lenient (because of inconsistency across leagues) with certain things.

Agreed, and yes it does effect the base runners. I do believe that is the point that the Hosea coach was making to the base umpire the other day when they lost that game. He was arguing that his base runners were confused as to when to steal or stay at home based on the pitchers double move. Thats when this umpire told the Hosea coach he knew the kid was balking but he wasnt going to call it because in his opinion it wasnt going to change the outcome of the game. I am sorry but a balk is a balk especially at this age and definately during the semis of the Regional championships of the Greater Cinti Knothole Tourney.

I saw the whole thing up close and I personally think the losing coach most definately did the right thing by just walking away and difusing the situation in total. Unfortunately that didnt satisfy the umpire and I think he felt like he deserved a handshake that just wasnt going to happen that day. And yes Grandpa did get pretty crazy out there and should of just let it go but I think he saw a couple of guys give his hall of fame profession a black eye and took great offense to it. I dont think anybody is taking anything away from the team that won, they won and thats that.

Why was there a big blue H on the front of the helmet a former member of NewCath was holding on the front page of the Enquier sports section today. What's that all about? Was that a shot or what?

Maybe they are hoping that the Highlands Big Blue H will bring them a little luck. Hey, isn't that public property. j/k

Nice article, very touching. The Kelly brothers were definately a force during their High School careers while at NewCath. I am sure the younger generation will also do well. However, I must question the fact that The Kiernan family was not thought of by the local newspapers when looking for an interview. WOW!!!!, Not taking anything away from the Kelly's but come on. Mike, Joe, Frank Jacobs, Zach and Jake must be dissapointed. Maybe their recogonition comes out in tommorows paper.

Franklin will score some but not nearly enough. I see Franklin having at least one huge turnover that will either be a Highlands touchdown or will lead to a score the next play. Franklin will score about 17 points and will have some success but they will not be able to stop Highlands.

Well then I just hope our little country boys can compete. Just keep in mind we are not Grant, S. Oldham, or CC. Our District has 8 teams so our out of conference schedule is limited. I'm a true football fan and know that HHS is one of the top programs in the state, win or lose FC will come out of this game with respect also.

I have seen and been at way too many of these matchups in the past with 10-1 and 11-0 teams coming into Ft. Thomas and being demolished. I don't disagree with you that FC hasn't worked very hard to be where they are right now and I most certainly believe they probably deserve some respect and praise for their great season. I also believe we will be very impressed with some of your talent as well. But unfortunately when this time of the year rolls around Highlands always finds a way to win and sometimes win sick against teams like yours. Just ask Tim Couch. Outch !!!!
