Christian County beating Henderson shouldn't have been a huge shock since they've proven to be a pretty good team this year.
I'm not sure any real contenders got knocked out of the playoffs in round 1.

I like the current 4 class system and would prefer to keep it. But if they did go to 6 classes, I think it would work out fine as well...I'm just not sure Kentucky is big enough to warrant 6 classes???

County hasn't played near the competition Highlands has...If the game is in Fort Thomas, Bluebirds win by 2 TD's.
What are you talking about? They beat Breathitt County.
I like Highlands to roll in this game. No slight to Franklin intended there.

This is a joke. I was in the press box last night and their is alot of respect between both these teams. The Manual Seniors went over to console the Meade Seniors after the game, and Manual took a knee instead of running up the score last night out of respect of the tough play of the Meade Co. team. This is a public Verses Private joke.
That's what I thought when I first read it.
And a good joke, I might add.

In the 99 Cov Cath-Beechwood game, I went up to pick off a pass, and Preston Long about broke my ribs. Not the hardest or best hit ever, but it wasn't too shabby (looked like it hurt, I don't remember because the wreck was the night after the game)
But did you actually see the hit?
Or just feel it?

I saw quite a few watching Breathitt County over the years.
Two that stand out
1 - Jeremiah Chapman, a 5-8 160 lb CB, intercepted a pass against Whitesburg. During the runback, a Whitesburg O-lineman (pretty good sized guy) was closing in to make the tackle and instead of running out of bounds, Chapman just lowered his head and literally ran over the guy.
2- John Rader - When Breathitt played Erlanger Lloyd in the '95 playoffs they had a great WR, Charles Sheffield (I think). He came across the middle on one play and Rader drilled him from the MLB position. It's a hit you've seen a thousand times over the years at every level, but its always great.

Let's hope it's the second alternative !!
I DON'T WANT another P-burg "B-factor" year. I think 4 years straight is quite enough.
Well I wish you guys luck onei. I just don't see Breathitt having enough to make a run to Louisville this year.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say whoever eliminates Prestonsburg from the playoffs will win Class 2A...if no one eliminates them then it will be the Blackcats.

Very, very well put !!
The key is having a defense that get the ball back by NOT being consistently driven on and forces a lot of TO's....
:thumb:
Right on! Very stingy defense is the common denominator among state champions. If you keep forcing 3 and outs and TO's, then your one-dimensional offense will put some points on the board sooner or later.

What?
My bad, gish...I misread the post. I thought you said they would be better than with Couch. I was thinking to myself surely gish didn't really say that...and lo and behold...you really didn't.
My apologies.

I honestly don't have a clue who will win 2A. I doubt Breathitt County will do it. The defense should keep them in most games, at least I hope. The offense is a huge question mark...they lost Hundley, Lamb and Warren, which was basically the pass offense. Robinson is a good back, but they'll need more than him to be a real contender. Most teams in 2A have a lot of holes to fill, so if the Bobcat D is stout and the offense comes around...who knows? But me personally, I have my doubts.

Leslie will never have a better team that the teams with Couch. Plain and simple.
If that's a fact then there shouldn't be any debate about the 2A champs.

I would be lying if I said that I thought the '02 team could win the title, because I knew all they could do was pass the ball, and run with Haddix. They were inconsistant that year, but there was no one to take advantage of that inconsistancy. Russell had the best chance, and should have won that game, but. . . .. . . . . . ..
You can be unbalanced and win as long as you're dominating at what you do. And Breathitt also had a dominant defense as well.
And Belfry the past two years is evidence of this as well.

Quinton Henson - Lynn Camp...I figured he'd be mentioned on more lists. He was a great football player. Didn't he get a scholly to Michigan, or am I mistaken?
Others that I didn't see or overlooked...
Deshae Henson - Clay County
Anthony Sharpey and Pete Combs - Hazard
Marty Reagan - Rockcastle County
...and from my home team...
Jason White and Latt Harmon - Breathitt County
