I have 5 kids and I'm a coaches wife, what do you think my job is? Ha ha
  1. Do I just live in my own little world over here, or doesn't recruiting and school hopping go on everywhere? From as young as little league you have kids whose mommy and daddy don't like Jr.'s playing time so they move to a different district (and throw a fit when they aren't eligible for All-Stars). I went to Ashland in the late 70's and 80's and the big controversy back then was when Coach Ernie Simpson supposedly enticed Chuck Cantrell from Ceredo/Kenova in West Virginia. Later on, boys like Jeff Large and Daryl Arbaugh came up from Greenup County... the list goes on and on and could be applied to any sport. I think the big problem was, as was stated earlier on this forum, that in this particular case, instead of just another above average ball player, this area ran up against a phenomenon (or two) in the form of Bill Walker and OJ Mayo. I don't know either of these boys but could it be that someone just wanted them out of their bad situations in Huntington and to get into a good Christian environment? If OJ had chosen Ashland as his home, or any public school, would there have been this much chaos attached to this time in 16th region basketball? How about all the kids from the Ramey home that play for Boyd County? Those kids are from all over the state, right? Anybody remember Frank Lee? Everybody twisted their mouth about him being at Boyd Co., but nobody refused to play them. When Chris Jennings came to Fairview to play football, he did not cause this kind of firestorm... he was a kid who caused a lot of other people to step up their own game, and isn't that what competition is all about? It seems like the kids themselves are never the heart of the problem... it's always the grown-ups who ruin the fun!!
  2. Wasn't it BlakeRobinson who played with O.J.? By the way, in my humble opinion, whether it was a 'fiasco' or not, it sure was fun to watch!! Also, for what it's worth, I took my little boy over to Fairview to watch Russell scrimmage a few weeks ago and all the boys (I don't know their names) looked pretty good to me! But then again, football is my game...
  3. Hi Goliath~ I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate your comment and I understand how when a tragedy occurs, someone wants to provide all information they might have heard, whether accurate or not. My reaction to your post was extreme according to some, but please remember that I read that post not 24 hours after Stephen's death, and the only reason I was on BGpreps anyway was because I was told someone had started a thread in his honor; I intended to print off the comments and give them to his parents. If it was a knee-jerk reaction, it was only because the news had only begun to set in. No hard feelings, my friend.
  4. To all of those who have posted kind comments, thoughts, and prayers on this forum, I would like to sincerely thank you on behalf of the Crisp family. My husband has passed along to Tom and Mary your kind words and although they are in inexplicable pain, they are still gracious and appreciative of all the kind words expressed here. Thank you .
  5. Good game to you too, Master D. I'm going for a Gatorade!! :-D
  6. NCC will play Mayfield at 6:30 tomorrow. These two teams also played for the 1A football championship
  7. GAME OVER NCC 75-65 OVER FAIRVIEW. GREAT EFFORT BY BOTH TEAMS!!!!!!!!!
  8. All 5 starters for NCC in double digits. Fairview is now clearing the bench to let their young guys get some time. Sounds like NCC now doing the same. This was a great game to listen to! 75-65 with 12 seconds to go
  9. sorry general, NCC has led throughout. 34.4 to play. Eagles trail by 8
  10. Danny Stewart is flagrantly fouling since entering the ballgame. Perhaps they're fouling because NCC is not making their free throws.. well, they just made one.. he made both. The lead is now 8
  11. Danny Stewart in for Fairview to replace the fouled out Jeremie Bayless. Danny has been very quiet today but can definitely hit the three. NCC not hitting their free throws. These boys (both teams) might be getting a bit tired!! And if you're listening, you can understand why!!
