  1. You have to follow your heart to ultimately become your best. Congrats to Jake. His love is with the roundball and I wish him an All American career.

Agree, talked to his Mom last night and she said Jacksonville rolled out the red carpet to get Jake. Congrats to Jake and his family, see you 10/08/11 when Dayton comes to town to play Jacksonville in football which I just found out is parents weekend.

  2. Four Highlands players signed their letters of intent to play college football today after school. Austin Abner (defensive back) signed as a preferred walk-on at the University of Illinois; Ethan Bishop (outside linebacker) signed with University of Cumberlands; Ryan Hahn (center) signed with Hanover College; and Daniel Gold (wide receiver) signed with Valpariso University. Also, Ashley Collinsworth, Cris's daughter, signed to run track at Harvard.

Congrats to all mentioned and Lauren Harret as well

  3. ^ Why the emoticon? I have heard from several people who keep a close eye on Highlands' offseason preparation that this year's defensive unit will be very, very good. From what I've been hearing the unit will have a nice mix of depth, talent and experience, under the guidance of an outstanding defensive coordinator.

Bpiccolo didn't say HHS' defense was going to be the very best ever at HHS... he said it could be "one of the best." Do you consider that unbelievable?

One thing's for sure: with HHS playing teams like Boyle County, Ryle, Dixie and Cincinnati Elder, and having to match up against the stars on Trinity's offense in a scrimmage, Highlands' defense will have the OPPORTUNITY to show itself to be one of the program's all-time great defenses! Go 'Birds!

I don't think "one of the best" surprises anyone it was more the statement in a "very long time" that may have some people wondering!!!

  4. Simon Kenton has some studs on defense this year.

    DE 40 Derek Mills Sr. 6'0 200 pounds 78 tackles 2 sacks 4 fumbles recovered 1 td

LB 34 Jared Bowling Jr. 6'1 190 pounds 67 tackles 3 sacks 2 fumbles recovered

    NT 50 Jake Schneider Sr.5'10 200 pounds 57 tackles 2 sacks 1 td

    FS 4 Trey Pinkelton Sr. 6'1 170 pounds 57 tackles 1 int

    CB 18 Jared Swanson Jr. 5'7 170 pounds 25 tackles 3 ints

I thought Jake Schneider played LB, did they move him to NT?

  5. Yeah wellllll, it will be 1199 since we are leaving SueBird at home. LOL.

I stop by to watch practice yesterday afternoon at St X. Are you kidding me?????? St X $28 million athletic facilities rival many, many colleges folks. I have never seen facilities like these.

With the weather forecast for Sunday being nasty maybe the predicted 1200 fans can sit in the Skybox Suites in comfort. Yes, Sykbox Suites, not wood and glass, Paul Brown Stadium stuff.

Anyway, for the kids, it looks like 3 practices today again at St X and then on to U of L to practice 3 times Sat in the Cardinals indoor facility. Talked to Coach Jeff Walz last night in Lou at a BB game and I asked him if the indoor field was regulation and he indicated yes. Asked him if it had seating and he was not sure if any and if so how much.

Anyone see where I am going with this one.

When we were there last year they didn't have stands for sitting, standing room only but who knows maybe they can do something???

  6. I think he was stating that Turner is blocked by coach W? In any event we are fortunate to have the magic man at HHS.

Thanks, I thought he was stating Winrich was blocked which of course confused me. I went back and read it again, thanks for clearing it up, although I do think Coach Turner would make a great head coach as well. I wish him the best and hopefully he stays at HHS.

  7. Once again, not reading the discussion and touchy about the facts. It is far from a joke of an argument. They have not played a team in 5A that has their draw except maybe Covington Catholic. Therefore, call me unimpressed by the playing up argument. If you want that to hold, play up to 6A. In truth, Highlands and Cov would have both had tougher playoff competition in 4A the last two years. Why would Union have sour grapes towards Highlands? They don't get many of our players. I can only think of a kicker from several years ago, but maybe I am wrong.

No we don't but you do get some of ours, Trenton Fugate was a pretty good pick up for Ryle.
